Beautiful exterior to the building, inside was nice but definitely old. The room I stayed in was very clean and had no issues! There’s no elevator, so if you have big suitcases, or have mobility challenges be ready for lots of stairs. The staff were friendly and helpful. My bathroom was separate from my room, which I don’t think is the case for all rooms but it wasn’t an issue and was clean. One huge plus is how quiet the room was, I couldn’t hear any traffic or any other room noise. The area is safe and very walkable and is close to public transit.

Meh. More like a hostel than a hotel. Room was large and bed was fine, not enough towels and creaky toilet and no one at staff till you call. The person "on call" came and fixed the toilet and gave us more towels. We would not stay here again, though its fine for students and younger folks.

The room was spotless and quiet. The staff at the entrance were friendly and helpful. A set of clean towels after 3 days would have been appreciated. A written set of instructions for the tele set up would have been appreciated

Hotel Ambrose is a super cute and cozy hotel, close walking distance to Mount Royal, McGill University, downtown shopping, and half an hour from Old Montreal and the port. Definitely recommend!

Nice older 3 storey walk up near Mount Royal. A bit hostel-like and very self-serve. Nice room with pretty windows onto the street. Nice little cafe on the main floor opens at 8:00 am. I would have liked access to a kettle and cups to make coffee or tea in our room earlier.

We were misinformed that parking on the curb directly opposite was free. We were fined $90 CAD and will refuse to pay. The entry way was dirty with dirty cups overflowing and lots of trash on sidewalk. Floors and rugs inside were not swept. The manager was rude (yelling) to my wife when she complained about parking ticket. The young staff were reasonably courteous--the only redeeming feature of our stay.

Hotel Ambrose is ideally located if your interested in visiting downtown Montreal. We were in town for the Canadians home opener. The Bell Center is in easy walking distance from the hotel as are many other attractions and restaurants. We found the staff to be helpful , check in was a breeze. The room was clean and bright and the bed was very comfortable. There are only 2 negatives: parking could be a bit of a challenge and there are no elevators and the hotel has many stairs. We would certainly recommend this hotel.

Ambrose Hotel was great for location to city centre. Walkable to all main attractions around. Close to Metro and shopping and restaurants. The cafe was convenient for morning coffee and bite to eat. Room was spacious and had character. Small fridge in the room would be a helpful addition. Otherwise great comfortable stay in Montreal.

We love this little hotel. There is no elevator and somehow we keep getting the 3rd floor which is 42 steps up a wonderful winding staircase! I could be mistaken but I thought I had booked a room with a King (although it would be impossible to move one up there) and wound up with a large double or small queen. The room is an adequate size but some are like large closets! Would be helpful to have iron and board in but space is an issue. Its location is perfect.
