NO AC, Damp/Heavy Air, Can't Sleep / Breath

In short, it's my worse Hyatt experience. AC is preset to 23 celcius only. it wasn't a hot summer day, but wouldn't go any colder even we set it to 18. It was a hazy summer day, and guess what? We are trapped in a enclosed room with no windows for fresh air. Room quickly became thick, heavy, damp/moist. I couldn't breath probably which quickly turns into anxiety and sleep is not possible thanks to this "Eco" feature. And we paid over $500 after tax for this treatment? never again even free. The AC fan is also super noisy whole night although it is a useless. For those who have breathing issues or temperature sensitive for sleep - do not come here. Even I survived the night with no sleep, next morning went down for Breakfast, now that's where I finally felt AC and can breath no issue. And after breakfast, going back to the room - you immediately felt there was no fresh air in the room. For my 10 year old kid - the thin ply toilet tissue-paper also sucks too.

Great Location

We went to Montreal planning to spend a significant amount of time in The Village Area. It was a great location for us as everything was very walkable. We also walked to Old Town a couple times. The hotel is well appointed and met all our needs. We would stay there again.

We stayed here for Osheaga as a family of four and chose this hotel mainly for its proximity to the Metro, which was incredibly convenient for getting around the city. The hotel has clearly been renovated, but it’s beginning to show signs of wear. Our room was a good size and very clean, which we appreciated, but as others have mentioned, the climate control was a major issue. Montreal summers are hot and humid, and unfortunately, the AC just wasn’t up to the task. With four people in the room, having the air set at 72°F didn’t keep the space cool enough — it made for some uncomfortable nights. The surrounding neighbourhood is urban and what you’d expect from a major city — busy but manageable. Parking, however, was a challenge. There’s no elevator in the parking area, and if you have a larger vehicle, you may need to find alternative parking. Be sure to drop your bags off before heading to the lot. Overall, we had higher expectations from a Hyatt property. While the location worked well for our needs, we’d likely choose a different hotel for our next visit.

The hostess lady was rude and aggressive! Towards minors and families. She was talking down to customers and families. She called security on our family with little children for having bread in completely allowable areas of the restaurant! She yelled at elderly and was aggressive with them! Hyatt place got a BAD review due to bad choices in staff !

This is a nice hotel, its renovated and its clean. The area however is very questionable. I felt unsafe walking back to the room in the evening. Just something to consider if you are travelling with kids

Mostly Positive Experience

The hotel overall was great. It was modern, with a friendly and helpful staff, spacious rooms and comfortable beds. The breakfast was a great value also. The room’s climate control isn’t great as other’s have noted. The room temp was 75 degrees (f) upon arrival and only made it down to 73 after 3 days. (Our desired temp was 70.) I didn’t really care for the location as the neighborhood felt like it was in disarray with lots of torn up buildings, litter, graffiti (and I’m not talking about urban art), and was a long walk (25-30 minutes) to Old Montreal— and we wished we had stayed closer. On the bright side transportation wise, the metro station accessible from the hotel has a direct line train to St Helen’s Island that’s only takes 4 minutes! Restaurants were nothing special nearby (mostly fast food) except for LuLu’s Cafe which made an excellent crepe. Because we drove an SUV we were not able to park in the hotel garage as the ceiling height was too low. We were directed to the parking garage under the big library. That garage did work out fine and was cheaper but it was several blocks away.
