A Mixed Stay with Highlights and Challenges
This property has many positives worth mentioning. The location is convenient for accessing Old Town and other parts of the city, and the price is competitive for the area. The decor is eclectic and artsy, adding a unique charm. Upon check-in, the desk staff was friendly, though I was initially assigned a first-floor room right off the lobby—an unsuitable choice for a solo older female traveler. After requesting a change, I was moved to a higher floor and given a spacious room, which I appreciated.
The room was a mix of good and bad. The bathroom and bedding were clean, but the carpet was noticeably dirty, and the couch appeared unclean, so I avoided using it. The TV had persistent signal issues, and while the high ceilings were lovely, noise from the room above was disruptive. Despite several lamps and large windows, the room felt dark. On the plus side, the heat worked well, and the bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast consisted of tasty pastries, coffee, and orange juice, though a few more options would have been nice. Housekeeping provided two coffee pods but failed to replace them one day. Unfortunately, the check-out process was impersonal; no one inquired about my stay or asked for feedback.
Overall, my stay was adequate with no major complaints. While I cannot compare this property to others in Montreal, it met basic needs but left room for improvement in cleanliness, attention to detail, and customer service.
