The hotel is dated and comfortable. This place is great because it is literally 100 feet from the metro and includes parking. No need to worry about your auto as you explore Montreal using the subway (which is so easy to understand/navigate).

I want to commend the day time staff that helped us with our reservations. They actually provided the customer service we were expecting with a smile! And were extremely helpful with everything we needed. We came in from a late flight (arriving here at the Sandman around 1am) and was greeted by a rude check in person (a long haired man). He wasn't helpful with my questions on our reservations and was talking down to us in a condescending tone. When we called down to ask for more towels, he told us we had to come down and get it ourselves. Not what we were expecting to have to do - unsure if this is normal there's no staff to provide service?? We were travelling with young children so any assistance at our room would have been preferred. Anyway, we're happy we don't have to deal with this particular person during the day. Happy to report everyone else we've dealt with or talked to provided excellent customer service.

The Sandman is a nice property with great views across river. It’s right across street from Metro station with free parking if you don’t want to stay in city center and pay out your nose for parking.

The staff were very friendly and the room was great and comfortable! We chose this hotel knowing we would be a distance away from the city, but if you have plans to go anywhere, its not very convenient. Overall, would absolutely stay here again!

Construction adjacent to property but that will make the amenities at the transit hub even better. Location is literally steps from the Montreal Metro which is quiet and smooth and reaches all parts of the city. Riding the metro is eery because it is so quiet and calm...you will stand out if you have a coffee on the subway...Albeit fast food, there is food available from very friendly people in the transit hub. For non-Quebec anglos, you cannot use the old stupid argument that french speakers in Quebec are rude or anything else. Everyone we encountered was wonderful. Drop the uptight Ontario/Toronto ways of looking at things. The hotel was great; elevator slow and sketchy at times; did not eat there but the restaurant looked nice. Room was very good. In-room coffee was okay.

Very nice property, can tell it’s older, but it’s taken care of. Only complaint is that it does not have a laundry room to wash clothes during or at the end of your stay. Staff was super friendly and the metro/bus station is right next door.
