Check in staff neither speaks great German nor English (at all), hard to understand what I was told. Rooms are a bit dated, the information on the website is not correct (the restaurant is closed) and parking is very narrow and limited. The fact that you can only pay cash is more than a surprise and really not what you expect in these days.
The location is great as you would expect in small villages like this
Great place to stay when visiting Burg Eltz! Easy convenient (and free) parking. Only issue that guests should be aware of is that it is cash only and the nearest ATM is 5 km away in the next town. Even so, the proprietor is willing to drive you there (it's not very easy to find).
Great location. This area is absolutely gorgeous. The owners were extremely nice. They have a small parking lot where you can park your car for free if you have rented a car. We were able to do day trips to Trier, Cochem, Cologne, St. Goar to Bacarach. Cochem and Cologne are very busy with lots of people. It was nice to come back to Hotel Moselkern where it was very low key, not inundated with people. The hotel is located right on the river, it's very beautiful. The hotel serves dinner and offers a buffet in the morning.
Location is great for hiking to Burg Eltz. Also nice bike trails and Mosel river access. The town is very, very small. No bank machines, no grocery store, only a couple of restaurants, and few places accept credit or debit cards so bring cash! Still a nice place to stay.
Great location to go to Burg Eltz Castle. Good location for day trips by rail. Took train to Koblenz and train to Treis to take river boat cruise. Excellent service, very helpful and good value. Moselkern is a nice quiet little village.
Pleasant staff, nice breakfast, good evening meal menu. As this was the only hotel in Moselkern we really had no choice but to stay here.
The room was big and it was great having a balcony. Seemed odd that the place closed from about 10.30 until later in the day ( guests had a key for a side door).
This hotel could be spruced up and make the most of being the one and only in the town.
Nice hotel. Breakfast is normal European assortment. Very accommodating, we had an infant and they always were willing to help with little things. They don't take cards, so be prepared to have cash (the owner drove me to the next town's ATM to get some out at checkout).
I spent one night here on my way to Burg Eltz during a 12 day whirlwind tour of Germany. The hotel was great, very clean and quiet. My room, and I think all the rooms, had a balcony overlooking the river. I arrived at the hotel about 17:30 and there was no one in the office. Someone else that didn't have a reservation was standing at the door when I arrived and we had to phone the hotel to get someone to come to the door. I left a bag with them as I headed out to sightsee the next morning thinking that when I returned around noon the office would be open. I again found them closed and had to call to retrieve my bags. Other than the lack of an office staff everything was great but as a traveler who sometimes travels without a phone this is an issue. With a staff I would have given the hotel a 4.
We stayed for 4 nights at the hotel. Initially we were concerned as the front door was closed even though it was after 3pm and reception should have been open. However a phone number was provided on the door with instructions about entry. Having called the hotel owners, they had returned and all was well within the hour. The room was very pleasant with a nice balcony looking over the Mosel River. The downside was that the twin bed (separate mattresses together) was quite worn on one side and they seemed to be made from a foam material which did not suit us. The restaurant was very good for evening meals and breakfast. The one big issue for us was that due to credit card machine issues, they now only took cash, so be warned! Not a big issue perhaps but we would have liked to know beforehand. Outside the hotel there was good parking available and the village was quiet in a beautiful setting.

Great location to hike to Burg Eltz castle and nice little town.
the hotel is right by the Mosel and only 5min from the station. It is ideally situated for cycling along the river. Trains ( and busses nearer Trier) transport bikes. The only problem we found was that there was no lift to the station platform.
The hotel has a garage for storing the bikes safely.
The hotel was comfortable and the evening meal was good value. The wifi is unreliable in that area and because of this the hotel can only take cash.
