Our host, Sandrine, upgraded our room as we were the only guests. The room was large and comfortable with direct access to the salon. The salon had a fridge, coffee maker and all the crockery/cutlery that we needed.
Our breakfasts were delicious and filling with lots of local produce and homemade items.
We really enjoyed the wines and learning about the history of the vineyard. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
The owner was a wonderful hostess. The room was exquisite as was the common/dining area. A welcoming glass of chateau wine started off our stay. Breakfast the following morning was a taste for the senses with freshly sqeezed juice, coffee, pastries, fresh jams, berries, croissants and baguette. We stayed for only one night and wish we had stayed for more. This was one of our best stays of our trip. Definitley recommend a stay at Château La Mothe du Barry.
We had a wonderful stay, using the chateau as a base while we attended a three day event at a nearby wedding venue. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Our host was very attentive, providing a superb and different breakfast and going that extra mile to provide gluten free meals for my wife.
The building is on a vineyard surrounded by other vineyards and close to a few towns. The room came with a very spacious shower and a lovely and large shared living room. Air conditioning worked well. The hostess, Sandrine, was super helpful. Nearby Branne has an excellent restaurant called Caffe Cuisine which had terrific food and a lovely atmosphere.
Cannot say anything negative on the accommodation and amenities at Chateau La Mothe du Barry. Sandrine was the perfect host - we arrived early after a long flight and she couldn't do enough to make us welcome. Will definitely be visiting again. D & D Marsden
I can’t say enough great things about this property. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. Our hostess, Sandrine, was amazing as were the homemade breakfasts she served each morning. The property is 10 minutes from Saint Emilion and surrounded by beautiful vineyards. Our room was very spacious, clean, and modern. I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone heading to the Bordeaux region whose looking for some R&R in wine country.
Sandrine was the perfect host for our 2 day stay. The breakfast, most of which was homemade, was wonderful The room was modern and aesthetically beautiful. Sandrine's restaurant recommendations were excellent. We would certainly stay again if in the St. Emillion area.
I cannot overstate how much I liked staying at this place in the middle of a vineyard. Our host Sandrine was great. The breakfast was fantastic. We were served freshly homemade delicacies, changing every day (unless we particularly liked something in which case it was repeated), and fruits and vegetables from the garden. The internet was good enough for me to work remotely (rather unusual in rural France), the room was spacious and nice, with a comfortable bed, good shower, and a private backyard with access to the pool (which we had to ourselves most of the time). Did I mention the breakfast? It was fantastic. I'd go back just for that.
I am honestly struggling to know what to write, this has been the best place I have stayed, ever! Sandrine makes you feel welcome immediately and encourages you to relax. In her words 'it is not a Hotel, its a home', I certainly felt at home (if our home was upgraded 20 notches). The place feels like a couples retreat and their wine is fantastic. Breakfast was unbelievable and all homemade. Rooms are all modern and very unique. We will definitely be looking to come back.
From the moment we arrived Sandrine was the perfect host. She’s speaks good English which helps when your French is as bad as mine. The wine from the vineyard is excellent. I was a particular fan of La Barry! A short walk from the village which has a great Italian restaurant and excellent bar serving a multitude of beers. The location of the property was great and the quality of everything there was excellent.
Small guest house with special rooms on a working vineyard. Location is peaceful & relaxing, yet convenient for St Emilion, numerous historic villages & within an hour of Bordeaux. Sandrine is a wonderful hostess who cooks tasty delicacies for breakfast, while providing ideas for day trips - their wine is good too! We will go back.
We stayed there for a night only and wished we stayed for a week. The owners are so lovely and friendly. We trial some of their amazing wine produced by them. They shared their time and history and show they have real passion for what they do. The breakfast was amazing, so much love and time went into it and it was free. We highly recommend that you stay there for a minimum of 3 nights, one was definitely not enough.
Location is fantastic, in the middle of the vines and very close to Saint-Emilion.
5star - BOOK BOOK BOOK
Traditional farmhouse in wine country. Guestroom completely renovated in modern style; large bedroom, large bathroom with huge rainfall shower; AC. Adjacent sitting area. Helpful hosts -- welcomed us with a half bottle of their own wine. Nice, traditional breakfast. Short drive to local town/restaurants and regional wineries. Would definitely stay here again.
We stayed at this small hotel for 3 nights primarily so that we could see friends nearby. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful, giving us advice regarding resturants and what to see in our visit to Saint Emilion. An excellent breakfast was provided
We had a delightful couple of nights in the chateau. It is well located, about 20 minutes drive from Saint Emilion and surrounded by vineyards. It was a most relaxing stay.
