Looks can be and often are deceiving

So when we arrived we thought about how good our luck was. The hotel is grand and it's reasonably priced what a steal for the price. Then things started to turn, it started out with small inconveniences the TV didn't have any English channels nor was there a provide streaming service which you could watch things dubbed on. This could be ignored however, then it escalated the cleaners didn't come when they were supposed to, the neighbours were noisy outside and inside the building late into the evening past midnight. When I would later speak to hotel staff about this they asked why I didn't go to reception and report it, and when I explained that I didn't want to cause trouble with the neighbours and that they may find out it was us who complained and retaliate, the staff looked on blankly. The very peak came when the hotel had a scheduled blackout for an hour which they didn't tell us about prior to booking and we only found out about through signage. During this hour we had to ascend the stairs in near darkness, there was no lit up emergency exit sign or anything of the sort and the food that we had in the freezer was exposed to an hour of being in the elements. Everyone staying at the hotel during this time should have been emailed before they arrived informing them of this. Anyway I complained during my stay and they offered me a partial refund so I am giving them a middling score as they did make an effort to make it right, if they hadn't they get 1 star.

This was a simply, comfortable, relatively inexpensive option to experience local living. The kitchenette was convenient with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, mini frig, cooktop and sink. You have access to washers and dryers for a price. Within walking distance of many of the sights and shopping. It was a non-smoking room with a nice balcony. There is no air conditioning but you have a basic fan. The one problem we encountered was people smoking on their balconies which came into your room if you had the balcony door open for some fresh air.

The rooms are not well kept unfortunately … the headrest for the bed was coming apart and pieces into the bed. The bathroom counter was dirty and dented upon arrival… it was just rough around the edges. It’s obviously an older building that may have been a hospital or apartment complex before this ? We left a day early. The staff was delightful though !

Way more than just a hotel room. It was great having a small refrigerator, dishes, sink, even a hot water kettle! Practically like home. The lobby and halls feel a tiny bit outdated, but the rooms themselves have been renovated and are great.

Everything about this place was on point. I ate breakfast everyday there and it was very satisfying. Staff was great, very clean everything all around. Close to the S-bahn station and an awesome short walk to Marienplatz. Highly recommended.

The property was an ok stay. There is no aircon in the rooms or a working fan, making it near impossible to sleep in the heat. Housekeeping isn’t automatically provided. You must request. Even after requesting they can forget or be finished for the day Overall location is good. Kitchen is ok for very basic use. Would not recommend for more than 2 nights

When we first got to our hotel room, we discovered our door wouldn’t close. Each time we came or went we had to fight with it to close. Additionally, our room didn’t have AC (which can be typical) but the fan provided was broken. I feel the price for the breakfast is too much, as it was the worst breakfast out of all the places we stayed in Germany. I believe they continue to put out the same food each day until it is gone. I ended up getting sick on the second day or our stay right after breakfast, where I only had yogurt. The location is decent, but a bit of a walk to downtown (about 20 minutes to get to the markets and stores) I think the marketing for this hotel is a bit misleading, as there are no stores near the hotel aside from car dealerships.
