For the price it was ok. The room we were in the room had trash in t still and the bathroom shower head was broke and the toilet had a hard time flushing or just wouldn't. We went to see the pool and it was so cold for being an indoor pool. Could use an upgrade for sure.

I love the family that runs the bar and restaurant there are the sweetest people that I've met from India so far! Seems like the owners are trying to spruce up the outside by repainting the entire building which is huge I am hoping that they'll reduce some of the landscaping as well.

The hotel is not what it was 25 years ago- but it’s clean and the owner maintains it very well I guess it has become a transient workers hotel and it is a great one- all set with fridge, stone and dishes It’s actually a bargain

The room floor was filthy the bathroom had broken fixtures ln the shower no shelf to put soap on. The door coming into the building was broken there was drug deals taking place in the parking lot. Lots of sketchy looking people around the property. I would not stay there again

Although the property was in rough shape, the room was clean. Did not ask for a efficiency unit (which they squeezed into a regular room), with full size fridge, stove, etc. Pillows were half size square pillows, which I have never seen in a hotel, and only 4 (equivalent of 2 standard). When we ask for additional, they said housekeeping was closed. Next day when we ask for additional, we were told yes, they never arrived. Very unprofessional staff and VERY CASUAL appearance. Over-all, price probably fit the venue. I worked in this hotel 40 years ago, it has gone WAAAAYYYY down hill.

LOCATION: The Clarion Inn is conveniently located near a ShopRite and a Staples, and two other hotels. It is also near New London Train Station & Ferry terminal. EXTERIOR: The exterior doors and painting could be much-improved. The doors are sometimes showing wear-and-tear of door latches, and do not have "Accessibility Buttons" which would help make accessing the doors easier for the elderly or those with "assistive transport devices" (wheelchairs & 2 wheeled electric scooters & bicycles). The parking lot could also be improved, by removing cracks in asphalt where grass grows through. INTERIORS & ROOMS: Aside from the broken guest laundry in the 600 wing, the interior hallways seem well-maintained. There was a leak of some sort near the ice machine by room 313, that seemed to leak into the carpet of the interior, which needs repair. Room I was in, was spacious, had infrared stove and a high-powered microwave (1580 Watt), and full-sized refrigerator-&-freezer, hair dryer and digital air conditioner, with "Dry" setting. SERVICE: There were service problems, encountered with many staff, except for one, who seemed to be of northern European descent. Politeness of front desk staff needs some improvement, and food services (who seemed mostly hispanic) did not seem knowledgeable about breakfast area resupply. English was a second language for many hotel staff, in August 2024, so be prepared to communicate in English, with hand gestures, to get your meaning across.

LOCATION: The Clarion Inn is near a shopping center called the New London Mall, which has an urgent care clinic, a ShopRite grocery store, and a Guitar Center. It is also near a Staples, where one can do Amazon returns. The New London Train Station & Ferry station are also nearby, and Amtrak and CT Rail trains pick-up and drop-off at the train station. EXTERIOR: The parking lot could be improved, as there are a lot of cracks with grass growing through them. There are 2 entrances: one from N Frontage Road, and one on Bayonet Street. Doors into the building have some damaged locks, and can be improved by adding "Assistive Transport" buttons for wheelchair and electric bike-or-scooter access. The exterior of the buildings need to be better painted, especially on the North Frontage Road side. INTERIOR: The Clarion Inn is 3 wings, connected by the lobby and dining area. The 3 wings are not all at the same elevation, and there are no elevators, so if you have an assistive transport device (electric scooter or wheelchair), it is better to request a room in the 300 wing, which is on the ground floor, because that wing connects to the front desk and breakfast area by an interior ramp. The 100 wing is also possible, if you can make it up 3-or-4 steps. - It would be helpful if the front desk had a ramp it could place along those steps to the 100 wing. In August 2024, there was a pool, but no lifeguard, and a non-functioning laundry. Service personnel were poorly trained except 1

Smoky smelling in a non-smoking room. Another person had to leave because they couldn’t handle it. I was forced to say because of a prior engagement or else I would’ve left. Everything was old. They did appear to be trying to paint the outside, but needed to work on the inside. People were OK. Won’t go back ever.
