Absolutely fabulous stay in Kocho, with particularly traditional ryokan with kaiseki dinner and breakfast. It embraces the natural greenery in the surroundings - constituting holistic experience that I have never had before.

The city itself seems dead. Very few tourists. Hotel, There is a few employees working, therefore response is very late.

The stuff does not speak English, AT ALL, we could not communicate. The room was very very small, the fridge was broken, the AC was very loud and we cannot control it. The hotel i think its for local tourists not for international travelers. We want to send some luggages to other city but the persons from the reception cannot /doesn’t know how to fill info for the papers provided by them.

This was our first time at a ryokan. The staff and facilities ensure a tranquil and relaxing visit. When one first checks in the guest is treating like royalty with beautiful robe (I cannot remember the correct robe), tea, and an explanation of the facilities. The room was an apartment. Lovely views, The onsen in the room and the view of mountains was luxurious and calming. The chef is a master. Although I do not eat most of the dishes, the chef prepares dishes so that I could eat. The steamed seabream was one of the most delicious meals I have ever had. There is a tea service available which is also quite nice. A short distance from the Onsen are trails through the mountains and around a lake.
