My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at the Elm House. The staff was pleasant, the room was nice, the property was all we needed. We didn’t need to be downtown in Napa or Sonoma because we traveled all over the areas for a week. We went from the coast to the redwoods, small towns, canyon roads, to wineries all over. The breakfast at the Inn was nice too. The atmosphere at the Inn was calming and soothing. We didn’t spend a lot of our time at the Inn, but it was always nice to come back to the Inn. There are nicer places to stay, but it’s all we needed. The cost for a trip to Napa and Sonoma can really add up once you add the tastings and multiple tours. Some people may think a week at one spot in Napa might be too long, but if you’re willing to drive all over the area, it works. For those that go to Napa, here is what I recommend for one memorable day. Begin with an early trip to Muir Woods, leave Muir Woods and take a drive to Stinson Beach, from Stinson Beach drive to Bolinas, from Bolinas stop at Point Reyes (stop at the welcome center), then drive to the Point Reyes coast. It’s like a different world from Napa and really makes a fantastic jam packed day! Cell service on this ride is very spotty, so be prepared to wonder if you’re going in the right direction.
