We really enjoyed our stay at the Drift. It was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved that it was close to the action. Would definitely stay there again!!
Other than surprise required parking fees (unexpected upon arrival), no exhaust fan in bathroom or ability to open window for fresh air circulation, and interstate traffic at all times, it was a nice place. Very modern and chic.
The hotel is a fairly newly renovated abandoned building. Very industrial. It sits in a parking lot next door to an abandoned building and a vacant parking lot next to the freeway. There is a lot of noise from the freeway traffic. It is in the middle of a construction zone of the new stadium being built. I can only imagine the noise when they implode the old stadium. In order to have the walkability that they claim they have you have to go through parking lots and work zones including walking between the two stadiums to get to the pedestrian bridge to get downtown. Well it's not a far walk it is a very unsafe and almost scary walk. The hotel itself is modern and clean. The rooms are very minimal. The beds were nice. There is a barn door on the bathroom so there is no privacy. Our room had almost zero storage just a universal shelving that you put your clothing on. Our room was supposed to have a City view and while it did have somewhat of a City view our view was of the construction of the stadium and it almost destroyed old Marquis from the building next door. Most of our view was actually of the pool below. As for the staff they were very nice, especially the two girls at the front desk. The bartender that was on duty night when was terrific and well in making cocktails, the person on duty the rest of our stay was not so people-oriented. In fact he was better gruff and kind of a jerk. We chose to go elsewhere to have a nightcap
rather than use the hotel facilities.
We had a group of 6 registered for the room. It only had dishes for 4, no microwave in the room. First time we requested one they said they didn't have any. The second day we requested they said - yes if there is one available, we will put it in your room. Asked for an extra blanket the first night - never got it. Asked for the 2nd night - got a throw - not a blanket. Staff was great - accessibility to Broadway was great. Used Uber and Lyft.
Loved this hotel!
Wish they would have told me about the $45 extra parking during boooming.
And also wish they had normal hotel breakfast offerings.
Other than that great !
This is an older hotel that has been updated to a mid century feel. The decor is great, the lounge area is beautiful and relaxing and the staff is incredibly responsive and helpful. IMO The areas for improvement would be the lighting in the bathroom which is yellow and dark. Impossible to put makeup on in there and easily fixable with a lit mirror. The HVAC system is noisy and wall mounted beside the bed, blowing air down directly on you while you try to sleep.
The location requires either a car or Uber rides but it’s well priced and as I mentioned - the lounge is perfect. We had a great experience at the Drift.
