Business trip one night

The hotel room door would not lock upon leaving without having to use the key card to unlock it first. The hotelroom was situated with the window to the street and therfore very nousy from passing traffic. The mattress was worn and had soft indents in it. The shower water did not get hot after running it for 3 minutes. The remote control for the tv did not work for the volume. The outside gate locks to the street did not work. The designated beach area is very small and with the speakers of the neigboring bar blasting extremely load majes it impossible to relax. Positive: the breakfast was good!

When I went to take a shower the water was cold and I notified the desk. Was told the plumber will be in at 8:00am in the morning. Finally given another room around 11:00am my I guess the manager. Service charge was remove by staff from the bill.

The view from the room was great. Unless you are on the second floor the balcony doors do not open anymore than a few inches. The staff at the front desk were very helpful. However the floor in the room was so dirty , over 6 days it was never washed, even when we asked ! The bathroom is very tiny, hard to move around in. The headboards in the room were old and stained. They have an excursion person on certain days of the week, which was not helpful, she tried to charge us more for the excursions than the websites. The beach across the street is loud , the music starts around 10 and goes til 8. You do have access to the beach chairs, but they are old and dirty. The pool area is small but no one was ever there so it was a bit more peaceful. The pool bar was never open while we were there.

HIE is great for being close to the Junkanoo Beach area and vibrance of downtown, at a fraction of the other hotels. It is perfect for that. The breakfast is great and there is a pool. There are computers downstairs to use, a good sized indoor and outdoor dining area and great toiletries in the room. Rooms are small and the pool bar was not open.
