The renovated all adult property is great Wonderful dining in every way with tons of fresh international choices. Entire property is elegant, yet casual next to the Atlantis Casino and a spectacular beach. Sadly, we had super loud floor mates for about 24 hrs/ hotel graciously moved them

Beach wasn't very crowded which was nice. The hotel staff were awesome, everyone was so fun, friendly, and all around great. The rooms could use a little updating and the bed wasn't super comfortable. You also need really plan reservations for hotel restaurants a couple days in advance, which is a little annoying. Overall, it was a great time. If you're going in March, you might run into a lot of bros on spring break, might not be your crowd.

Food was good. I didn’t like that there wasn’t any staff at the pool or on the beach offering drinks. Only one pool/beach bar available. Reservations for the restaurants were very limited but we got lucky there were no-shows. Our bedroom key didn’t work 3 times out of our 4 night stay and our room was only cleaned one day despite us putting the necessary signs on the bed and door for it to be cleaned. Drinks were great and beach was very clean.

Let me start with the good. This is the 3rd RIU we have stayed at. The others were in Cancun. The staff and service were top notch. Every one is helpful and friendly. Really can't say enough good things about everyone we interacted with. The restaurants and buffet are on par with any other RIU. This is the smallest property we have stayed at. There is only one bar, which is the sports bar. It opens up at night to the auditorium for nightly entertainment. There is one pool and swim up bar. The beach front is more than ample to accommodate many people. The water is beautiful. OK, now the not so good. I paid for a Junior Suite Ocean View Superior room, like I have done at the two different RIU's in Cancun. After checking in I was very disappointed that our room on the 20th floor had a partial ocean view and looked mainly at the parking lot and the building next door that looked like it was abandoned. I used the RIU app to communicate with the front desk and was informed that I got what I paid for, a partial ocean view. . That response closed my inquiry. Needless to say I was confused and not happy with that answer. I chatted with Expedia, who I booked everything through and explained to them my situation. I asked that I received the view I paid for, or a refund on the extra I paid for to get the Ocean View Superior. They in turn asked me to hold while they contacted the resort. The best part of our stay was meeting the staff. There were lots of them, and they were excellent. Our only complaint was that we were not able to make any reservations at the specialty dinner restaurants. They were always filled. The buffet was very good, but we wanted to try the specialty restaurants at least one night. No luck at all.

The staff are super friendly and helpful. The place is very clean with employees constantly cleaning everything. The restaurants are very good, our favorite was Tengoku Japanese restaurant. Overall , everything was fine.

They need a quieter alternative bar for evenings. Restaurants were not quite as good as expected. Buffet was very good. Staff was awesome, very friendly and accommodating. Also very clean.

The front desk staff older women was SO RUDE, after getting up at 3 am, two flights, 2 car rides, one wants a nice staff member. Randy was very nice tho.Housekeeping and servers very nice for the most part, Iris and Sharon in particular, some of the younger male waiters were not friendly. Tho guests are not suppose to save pool chairs with towels, they allowed that. The bar pool is too far from the bathroom, we saw 60 people in it for hours and NO ONE used bathroom, need I say more? Beach was amazing and beautilful but again you need to arrive early, by 8 am to get the front row, staff arrives around that time to help with chairs and umbrellas. We are big tippers so we tipped all week, we were amazed at how many did not tip. If you can afford 8K to go there you can afford $1 for a tip for bartender and a few bucks at breakfast lunch and dinner. Food was good quality but repeated so much, how much can one eat Ox tail? I mean for me none but..... the salmon was great but not repeated, go figure. Rooms were clean and we had a great view, housekeeping was kind, they did what they could but the rooms need paint and caulking and such. Only two public rest rooms and both small, have to walk a 1/4 mile to get to them. Only 2 bars one open all night, the other 10-6. Not the relaxing time one would hope for, no kids but some on the beach, lots of vendors selling stuff which was a - for me. Jerk chicken flavorful but on bones, so that counted me out. Overall a 6.

Riu's staff is very welcoming and warm. There is a great area around the hotel for walks. Food choices are plentiful, coffee stand is a nice touch!

EXTREMELY DISAPOINTING

Pictures are very deceiving, must have been from 30+ years ago. Room was not what was requested. Was told to get on there app right away to make reservations for the restaurants-which we tried to do-but there was no availibilty for several days in ANY of them. One working outlet in the room in the room, at the bar. So, therefore I had to plug in my phone and watch in the bathroom. No shower door or curtain so water went everywhere. The air condtioning fan sounding VERY loud all night long-like it might fall out of the ceiling at any moment. So very little sleep. Went to fix a drink at the little bar in the room-had fifths hanging-which you think is great-first time to push up on the dispenser, it feel out of the wall. Coffee shop downstairs-thought awesome. Wrong, didn't even open till 10am. My husband went in the buffet to get some breakfast the next morning (the only one you didn't need a reservation for)and the floor had so much condensation, he said it was like an ice skating rink. We booked this after I had 2 shoulder surgeries in six months, as a great place to help towards the end of recouping period. The last thing I wanted is to take a chance on a fall. The pools-only two, not big enough for the amount of people. The beach area was very small. Let's just say if we had stayed there the entire week we had booked, we would have been very depressed. Mu husband got on the phone that first night and got us into another resort for the remainder our our trip.

The overall temperature of this resort is freezing. 64 degrees is not comfortable when you are wearing resort wear or coming in from the pool area. It also mes the food turn cold very quickly which makes dining options less than favorable. On the other hand the pools were nice. Some of the warmest pools i have ever been in.
