Very Good

Very walkable town and Inn is well situated in it. Beds were comfortable. Conditions were poor from the entrance (don’t grab the handrail at the front steps: VERY unstable.) On main floor there were a couple of places where there were piles of what looked like strewn pellets like cat food swept under furniture. Bathroom dirty with blackened bottom of shower curtain and some bathroom linen (unused by us). Beds were comfortable but covers are not cleaned between guests (nor are blankets as evidenced by a very long hair, clearly not mine, that attached itself to me.) Furnishings are old and quite worn. Food at breakfast was good though the second day doors opened quite late because staff had “overslept”. We had two rooms on the second floor but no one offered assistance with bags. MANY similar reviews prior to our arrival (should have read them) so apparently owners and staff don’t care. Would not stay here again.
Carpet in the main hall and stairs were dirty, one of the screens in room ripped, 2 window blinds torn, light bulb blown in bed side lamp, the TV didn't have sound so they replaced it but took away the cable box and there was no spot on the TV to plug in the cable. Also no extension cord to plug in the TV. Offered phone number to reach staff but did not respond after 6pm.
It was convenient and lovely field for walks but very hard to reach front desk

We have stayed here before when the property was under previous ownership. Property is now showing some signs of neglect. Less clean now. Bathroom fan was so full of brown fuzz it looked hideous. Person at check-in was not outwardly welcoming as but was rather neutral about the whole thing, it felt more like checking into a motel than an Inn.
As this is an old Inn, and kept authentic, be prepared for narrow stairs and shared or separate bathrooms. As we appreciate these places, it is still fine with us at 75. Room was very nice, bathroom roomy, and staff friendly. Had to leave early so no comment on breakfast. Nice place.
A well taken care of Victorian house transformed into a hotel. This beautifully kept hotel is something that will have anyone staying here returning again and again. From its incredible decor and welcoming atmosphere to the surrounding area (shopping, restaurants and historic sights) This hotel was well worth the stop. Now there are no washrooms in suite as it is an old Victorian house, most rooms have private washrooms. The whole vibe of this place is perfect. If anyone wants to travel back in time and sleep comfortably I recommend this place.
Sorry to say it was a huge disappointment. Historic Inn that has received absolutely no love and attention for many years. The room hadn’t been properly cleaned (dirty baseboards, floors, shelves etc) and I had a hard time sleeping in a bed with stained sheets. We want tourist dollars in Nova Scotia and tourists deserve more. Antigonish is a university town. Are there no students who need summer jobs and can be taught how to properly service/clean a hotel room?
