My stay a Degas included mouse droppings with my coffee and tea. That was the entire stay. The breakfast area had mouse poo. The kitchen sink filled with the same dishes from when I checked in, checked out still there. There was no access to trash inside the house. The room I stayed in had mouse poo in the tub and on the bathroom floor rugs. The jetted tub was also dirty upon arrival. Amenities, absolutely nothing that was described was offered besides the room, the bed, the AC. No one was attentive. No housekeeping. No, BREAKFAST!!!! Being a Bed& Breakfast is why I had chosen the place. And I did not get breakfast at all, not even the least bit. No access to Wi-Fi. Cable was disconnected or, so. No iron. No ironing board.
horrible experience. We booked a room in this place...it can't be called a hotel. Our flight was delayed for several hours due to technical problems, which is why we arrived at 4 am. We knocked on the door, rang the bell, and no one answered us. We checked if they had sent us any code to obtain the keys and nothing. It should be noted that days before I wrote an email asking if it was necessary to carry out any new action with the reservation and they replied no.So we decided to go to a random hotel and return at 8 am, a time that was indicated as opening hours on the sign on the door. We never found anyone, not even guests. The doors closed and no one to attend to us. Then at 10:00 am the person who claimed to be the owner of the place arrived and disclaimed all responsibility. We entered his office which was also extremely dirty and messy. An absolute lack of respect, an irrecoverable waste of time on a trip. regrettable. a total lack of respect.
The house it's self is absolutely beautiful and everything you want in a historic (possibly haunted) house. The outside neighborhood cat (grey tabby). Was also an enjoyable temporarily companion.
I would like to nominate the cat for employee of the month. She was available 24/7 and it only cost us a small bag of dry food in tips.
My issue is with the outdated listing. Breakfast is only served on weekends. Not specified in the listing
There isn't check in available after 5pm. I didn't see this in the listing.
There was no staff available at all during our 4 day stay.
Things were noticable dusty throughout the house.
Full trash cans in the dining room.
The listing photos aren't clear. From the photos I thought there was a pool. But there isn't a pool.
The house is conveniently located along the bus route which was super easy to utilize.
Definitely a mixed review. Had I been better informed prior to booking I would have understood. It's just a little disappointing.

Not for everyone
Loved the charm of this historic property! We were the only guests at the time and no breakfast available. Lousy shower pressure. The room was hot, although not unbearable with window AC. I liked the experience, but my wife didn’t. If comfort a priority, stay elsewhere.
We arrived to a property that hadn't been cleaned. Though the owner of the property tried to make it right by sending people over to at least change the beds and clean the bathrooms, this ended up being the least of our problems. Heat didn't work in half of the house where 3 of the bedrooms and the majority of the bathrooms were when temperatures dipped below 30 at night. When we plugged in space heaters, it tripped the power to that half of the house. When the owner sent someone to 'fix the heat' all the person did was change the thermostat on the side of the house that heat was working, but did nothing to fix the heat on the side of the house that we had none. When we mentioned to the owner of the property we appreciate what he had tried to do, but we would be trying to get some money back, he responded saying that essentially because the property was 'cheap' for 11 people to stay, that we wouldn't be getting money back. I don't care how 'cheap' it is to stay somewhere, heat and power is something essential to staying even in a motel. On top of that, the property was quite literally falling apart. The pool and hot tub looked like it hadn't been maintained in years. Part of the roof looked like it was bowing. We flushed one of the toilets and water started spraying out from the back of it. We went to close a sliding door to one of the rooms and it just came out of the tracks. There were fire alarms that weren't attached, they were just sitting on the counter.
My wife and I had an awful time- so bad that we left after the first night even though we had a reservation for 4 nights. The owner was overwhelmed when we got there and it took some time for us to get settled in our 3rd floor room. He said he would retake care of a burned out bulb on the night table lamp but never did. The sink in the bathroom had no hot water unless you turned the valve underneath. The towels were not clean. The bed was terrible- it made noise every time you moved and the mattress was awful. The breakfast was mediocre at best. When we called to let them know about the problems in the room we did not get any response until 11am the next day by which time we diecided to move to a decent hotel. While the history of the place and the art was interesting, I would never stay there again because of the condition of the place and the lack of concern from the owner/operator. I have never written a bad review of anywhere else (I travel a lot all over the world) but in this case I really felt compelled to do so.
We were transported back to Old New Orleans and the life of Edgar Degas. Our stay led us to new thoughts and opened up great conversations. Very inspiring. The people were so friendly and caring.
The property appears to have been abandoned for some time. It is in major disrepair inside and out. On approach to the property you first realize the advertised drive way is unusable with out a large 4x4 vehicle. Front door access key pad is broken. Entering the house the smell of mold is overwhelming. Cob webs dust hornet/wasp nest inside the house we found one in sheet on the bed. BED BUGS were found in two of the four bed rooms dead bugs of various types found throughout. Black Mold in one of the furnace rooms completely covering the walls. If the front yard and interior of the home were not bad enough. The real reason our family booked this property was because of the swimming pool and cool water jacuzzi. Both were filthy and inoperable. No electricity to rum pumps in pool and it obviously had not been used in a very long time. We called owner of the property, he had us call the property manager to come clean up and change bedding they came in with a single sheet of paper towel wiped of 1 or 2 surfaces and left promising to come back with pool guy. Owner showed up tried to get electricity working for pool area didnt help and left us to figure it out. Some of our party was fortunate to afford different accommodations at their own expense last minute, the others of us including a pregnant woman and a 2 year old slept on top of covers and breathed moldy air for our two night stay. At the time of composing this review everyone that stayed is sick. Worst experience ever

I would like to start by saying Danielle was amazing! She was so friendly and accommodating. She was definitely the best part of this stay. The house is old and I understand that, but it was in a bit of disrepair.
The listing advertises cooked to order breakfast daily and housekeeping. There was no housekeeping. During our 4 night stay, we were served 2 continental breakfasts, 1 cooked to order breakfast and Saturday there was no breakfast at all. The food that was provided was very good and the staff was super friendly and helpful.
The rooms are air conditioned, but the rest of the house is not. The common areas were very warm and the dining room was quite hot during breakfast.
There is no after hours number to call for when things go wrong. Another guest checked in after 5 pm and the AC in their room was not working. The couple in the room next to us, had to pry their bathroom door open with a butter knife after the handle fell off.
You can walk to the French Quarter. It appears to be a reasonably safe neighborhood.
After fees we paid about $300 per night. Not the best value for sure.

The house is beautiful, but the bed and food services are bad. The tvs are old they juts need to update the bed and some furniture in the rooms
The building is falling apart and filthy! We received lean towels one time in 3 days despite tipping and asking for them! There were cobwebs and dust all over our room and the tub had someone’s hair in it! Don’t stay here.
Centrally located property in midtown on Esplanade. I wanted to have easy access to the French Quarter south of the hotel on Esplanade. I walked from Frenchmen to the hotel in 20-25 minutes and it’s about 10 minutes by car depending on traffic.
The GOOD - The buildings aesthetically beautiful, antique furniture, authentic NOLA character with oak trees and Degas sculpture at the front. The master chefs of the kitchen Ms Sharon Ms Alma and Ms D are a formidable team. Best food I eat my entire trip and they took care of me like family.
I stayed in the Josephine which had a window looking out to the neighbour’s balcony. The sheets were soft, bed comfortable and I slept well.
The BAD- Reception desk has limited hours. I arrived late at night I had to retrieve my key from a drop box. Which worked well but it was not a warm welcome for a stranger in a new city. I never met the manager at all. I checked out the way I arrived.
It’s an old historic building so the walls are thin and noise travels easily. There is of course no elevator and a lot of stairs. Lugging my suitcase to my room was no easy feat.
The UGLY - The house is in dire need of repair. Drain of the bath tub was blocked so soapy water collected around my ankles when I took my bath. Face basin was rusty and missing the plunger. The drawers of the antique chest were dirty and unusable. Floor boards were sinking, roof paint peeling. Pity.
It’s a must visit for breakfast and tour of the house. Stay optional
I stayed on the third floor in the Gatson room, the room was okay clean, there aren't any windows in this particular room, tv, no phone within room, the do offer breakfast every morning from 8-10 which is pretty good, there is no elevator on property so be prepared to climb stairs overall great area close to everything, the rooms on second floors are nices and roomier than the 3rd floor.
