The rooms as per most NY hotels are very small, unfortunately the aircon was only partially working, it seems very stylish when you enter the Lobby but reveals itself a triumph of style over substance.

We used to love this hotel. It's been in slow decline however and now the staff is disorganized enough that they can't complete small tasks like delivering and extra pillow to your room (called three times, but somehow they couldn't complete this simple task). Also, they neglect to tell you that depending on the season they either don't have heating or don't have air conditioning.

Thought this would be a cool spot as it was in a great location but it was extremely disappointing. Dark, dank and mildewy. Our room was really big but the bathroom was so tiny. The tub barely drained and was a mini tub. The carpet was really dark and dirty. Window didn’t close. Everything felt damp and smelled mildewy. It was a confusing place — do people live in the building as well? The lobby was cool and I think ultimately what draws people in. Really wanted to like the place as it was close walking to a lot of places but we hated it. Staff was lovely so not their fault but I would say not for us or a return visit, ever.

Location was great for me however I will not stay here again. I stayed two nights while on a work trip and did not sleep well either night as the bed was uncomfortable and weirdly short (I’m only 5’6). I also found a bug in my bed the last day which freaked me out. I told the front desk when checking out about the bug, and they acknowledged the issue but didn’t really apologize which was just awkward. I really wish there was a light and outlet next to the bed also. The lighting is very poor in the room and makes it hard to work and do makeup. I did ask for a makeup mirror and they sent one up which was nice. I liked the shower — water was hot and water pressure was great.

Decent at best
I’ve had great experiences at other Ace Hotels, unfortunately this one fell short. Booked a medium king and room was a decent size but there was barely any lighting so one corner of the room was virtually unusable. Bathroom was super dingy, cracked tiles, bad repair work. Shower was sooooo small and awkward. Street noise was crazy loud. Found someone else’s socks in the room under a table which made me question the cleanliness. Not all bad though. Bed was amazingly comfortable. All the employees at the hotel were helpful and kind. Good centralized location with easy access to subways. Overall, it was a decent stay but unimpressive compared to other Ace experiences. Feels like it’s maybe gone downhill.

The Ace, while I still enjoy it, is showing its age. The toilet did not flush and could be heard running overnight. The bath sink fixtures were wobbly. The luggage rack was wobbly. There was nowhere to park a car with a validated discount. Our room had scaffolding outside the window and the room was dark with no sunlight. There were large groups of bike delivery people loitering outside the hotel. Their lobby, location and overall vibe remain a favorite.

I asked for a deluxe king size room and the room was small. But they did switch me to another deluxe king which was a bit bigger and that was the room I saw in the pictures. You need to say something if they put you in a smaller room. It’s weird. And there’s a smell in some of the rooms
