Once we got over the sticker shock of what it costs to stay in NY, we realized what a great value this was. It was a beautiful hotel, spacious rooms and lobby spaces that you actually want to hang out in. We had an issue (not the hotel’s fault) and manager Fatima was extremely helpful. The location is perfect. Note - the elevators,can be slow. Soy less you are going for a particular view, I’d ask for a lower floor.

The room was too smelly, very small , too old , elevator was too slow , they offer us continental breakfast that was a joke , they just give you one pastry plus regular coffee , so the hotel wasn’t worth with that price at all .

My stay at the Art House Hotel was disappointing. Check-in lacked warmth and friendliness, and despite a prior positive experience in a renovated room, I was placed in an unrenovated, tired space with plumbing issues. It seems hotels often assign less desirable rooms to third-party bookings, and this was no exception. While the room was quiet and the bed comfortable, the outdated décor and slow elevator made the experience frustrating, especially for a hotel priced over $400 per night. Staff were consistently indifferent, both at the front desk and the coffee bar. Checkout was similarly impersonal. Overall, the hotel feels dated and uninspired—there are better options nearby, and I won’t be returning.

I stayed for a college reunion with my husband. The location was great, close to subways and walkable to the park. The lobby cafe and sitting area was cute and trendy. Room was small but expected from a NYC hotel. I would definitely recommend over a large hotel chain like Marriot or Hilton. I loved the boutique feel and would stay again for sure. I would stay with teen aged kids but probably not for small children.

Pros: Location was good, close to subway station. Walking distance to all the shops and restos on Amsterdam Ave. Nice boutique vibe. Con’s: not all the rooms have been renovated so our room was not and our family’s room was, yet we paid the same price! Disappointing to see. Also, entire exterior is being renovated so scaffolding covers all the windows. They should therefore not charge for ‘city views’ when there temporarily are none.
