Great location for arts lovers. I stayed overnight after an evening performance at Lincoln Center, and the convenience was worth the price. The room was adequate, with good water pressure, plenty of hot water, and a comfortable-enough bed. Earplugs and white noise drowned out the hallway noise enough to get a good night's sleep, followed by an excellent breakfast at Masseria Caffe nearby. Spotted a cockroach, but it fled, and hey, this is Manhattan.

Stay somewhere else!

Don’t stay here! The lobby is beautiful and the rooftop bar is fine, but the rooms are in terrible shape. I stayed in two different rooms (because the WiFi was broken on the floor where I first stayed.) A front desk agent confided that ALL rooms were in equal need of repair. Picture torn carpets, peeling wallpaper and stained countertops. (But the location was convenient…)

The pool was ridiculously small and filled w/kids… there was no way to enjoy it. I have kids and totally get it/ love seeing them have fun! so nothing against kids. There is no way the hotel should consider this “pool” as an amenity for all guests to use. The outside rooftop area is as lovely- although it would’ve been nice if they had service (food/drink). The lobby area is lovely, but the guest room floors were ridiculously dark and decor was bizarre and gaudy. The room was small, rough around all the edges, dated and without charm. The best part of the stay was the friendliness of the staff! They were very kind and considerate with every interaction I had.

The directions to the pool were not easy to follow. We tried to access it through the elevators that go to the rooms, but once on that floor, we had to take stairs and ask around for the pool.

The location is amazing; I enjoyed the ability to walk to Central Park in the morning to start my days. There are great dining options, and it’s walkable to the theater district without being as busy as Times Square. Rooms are small but clean. The rooftop pool that we had looked forward to is more like a swim spa-we went up to check it out and it was so tiny we laughed out loud 😛. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

property seems to have fallen on hard times. there was a desk in our room but no chairs to sit on, which made it hard to work in our room. There were couches and tables on the mezzanine where you could work but no good business seating.

I am bery upset. Less than 24 hours after cheking out, I emailed the hotel, telling them that I forgot my pants in my room. As they are white, I didn't see them and placed them with the towels to clean. I have been reaching out to the hotel 3 times a week. At the begining they told me they were about fix this and them someonr told me to send another email! I just want to come and pick my pants to the hotel! They seem very quick to accept your money but for any small issue, they is nobody! a shame!

The Empire hotel is run down and in poor condition. The fitness center smells strongly of mold and I thought the bathroom door looked dirty so I checked with a wash cloth and it turned black. There were also mold spots on the air conditioning unit. I will not stay here again and would not recommend it. The staff was friendly, but it doesn’t make up for the mold.

This visit to NYC was a bucket list wish of my sister. I booked the superior room with 2 double beds - ended up being room 131-after viewing photos on your website. We walked in and immediately I noticed a musty smell. The room had 2 beds, one bedside table between the beds, one lamp on the bedside table, one chair, no desk and chair under tv, sm. chest under mirror. There was a tiny open closet with a rod and hangers which was above a shelf with a tray which held a few paper cups. The bathroom had a shower, sink, and toilet. There was no where, accept on the sink by the faucet, and the top of the toilet to lay out toiletries, etc. The one hook on the back of the bathroom door was hung so high we could not reach it to hang a towel to dry. There was an iron, but no ironing board. Someone did bring us one when requested it. The AC was set on fan temp 76 when we arrived, so I set to auto and tried to lower temp to 70 as it was very warm and stuffy in the room. The control would not let me lower the setting. The temp ranged between 74 and 78 during our stay. I have never felt the need to give a negative review, but we were so disappointed with the condition of the room which cost over $1000 for 2 nights. The staff we encountered were all very kind and accommodating. The location was perfect as we had tickets for a show at Lincoln Center. It was close to two subway stops and Central Park. We could have requested another room, but assumed condition of new room would be same

the AC in the room was not working. The bathroom doorknob was extremely loose and about to fall apart. bathroom door wouldn't latch shut. We had to change rooms and both rooms we were in needed some more upkeep. Things not maintained very well for what we paid. 1 of the 4 elevators wasn't working the whole trip. Beds are also too hard for my taste.
