Bathroom entirely too small. No coffee in the room! Hotel is old, clean, stylish but dated. Mattress on both beds was AWFUL. Felt like a cardboard box with minimal padding. Staff was friendly and helpful and location was superb. My guess is that the great location gives them a pass on having to have nice things. Very tourist oriented clientele due to location.

I would love to love this hotel for the location, but my last two stays there were unacceptable. Unbearably hot room this stay. 80 degrees. Last stay the room was ice cold. The room thermostats did not function. Shower curtain was held together with rusty safety pins. Added an additional night to my stay and was told I could stay in the same room, but instead had to check out in the AM and check back in later in the afternoon. Really bad.

The lobby is stunning. I wasn't at the property so much I spent my time out. I did visit the rooftop bar/ restaurant late at night after a show and that was great. I felt safe and would definitely stay again!

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my stay at The Empire Hotel from December 4–7, booked through Expedia. From the first night, my husband and I had a very poor experience. The air conditioning unit was extremely loud, making it impossible to sleep, and there was no hot water in the shower, which is a basic necessity. We raised these concerns with management the following morning. We were told the AC would be inspected and that our room would be changed if the issue persisted. Despite multiple attempts, our room was not switched until late afternoon, causing significant inconvenience. Regarding the hot water, we were informed that this was “as warm as it gets,” which was unacceptable. I was attending a conference and later learned that colleagues staying at the same hotel did not experience any AC or hot water issues, confirming that our room’s problems were not hotel-wide. We were repeatedly told someone would check the water issue, but no meaningful improvement occurred. When we requested assistance or compensation, we were told this could not be offered because the booking was through Expedia. I contacted Expedia, who attempted to reach the hotel on our behalf, but neither party has followed up or provided a resolution. This stay cost nearly $600 for a very small, unclean room with non-functioning basic amenities, which was extremely disappointing. The experience made the trip unnecessarily frustrating, and I would not recommend this hotel to others.

We love the hotel. Beautiful, convenient, and the staff are great. We loved that the room overlooked Lincoln center. However, the room 1116 had a sewage odor, a thermostat that didn’t work (we wanted to turn down the heat), and there was an extremely loud periodic banging noise. This was for a room for which we paid over $800 a night before taxes and fees.

Rooms are run down (peeling wallpaper, worn down carpets, bubbled up baseboards, bathrooms in need of repair/update). Beds are firm. The lobby is beautiful though. We didn’t have enough time to try out the restaurants. We did enjoy the valet parking and the luggage check in while we explored the city. Staff was wonderful. Overall for the price and little time spent there, not worth the money.

The room was much smaller than I thought. The bathroom was so small that I could barely stand inside. It wasn’t clean, but they made the bed nicely and took the trash. The air-conditioning heating was falling apart, making noises at night and smelling burned and also no coffee machine in the room, which is to me a big minus. The doorman was exceptional. He helped me with luggage, booking a car to the airport, picking up my luggage in the room his name was Naz. Thank you so much to Naz for making my checkout and trip to the airport so much better and comfortable

We stayed there the weekend before the macys parade. The only thing I would honestly have a gripe about is the room needed to be a little bit more updated. However, it was a fantastic experience and the service and treatment were great. I would recommend staying there.
