Overall you are paying for location & paying a premium rate. the hotel although nostalgic & iconic is very tired with non updated rooms ... I had a suite (extremely expensive) the living room area was not very clean and there were water bottles & shreds of paper behind the couch. a small efficiency kitchen with not even a paper towel or extra small garbage bag & no pans etc .. to use in the oven ... carpet was stained as well ... staff was ok but nothing great ... it was my 4th time staying there and seems like someone new or a new corporation owns it ... felt very different especially when it came to basic courtesy .. i think i have to look elsewhere next time i visit the area ... for the exorbitant price you pay it's just not worth it anymore .... i really didn't want to write a less than good review but I have to tell the truth too ...

It’s not inexpensive by any means, but this is a great hotel in the UWS. Staff was helpful and friendly. Room was clean, sizable and had great bathroom amenities. Area is extremely walkable with many restaurants close by.

Booked this property because of a concert at the Beacon Theater. The listing said “King Room w City View”. The view was disappointing because our room looked out at the roof with a giant heating/cooling unit with a brown metal wall. . I do not consider that a city view and not sure that was the view I paid for 😕. The hotel was mostly clean and quiet so I appreciated that. Our bathroom also smelled like fish. Not sure if it was the smell of the water or the cleaning products, but it was not very pleasant. Good coffee shops and dining nearby though. Either way, I feel like I did not get my money’s worth.

The stay was good. I didn’t like the AC unit making a rattling noise, so I couldn’t use it while sleeping. Second, I couldn’t stay for my second time, so I asked both Expedia and the hotel itself to see if they could refund me for the second night. Both of them said that they couldn’t do anything about it since I booked it through the third party. It’s pretty disappointing that both Expedia and the hotel itself couldn’t do anything about it what’s so ever. I understand there’s policy place, however there was no wiggle room on anyone’s side to help and make an exception. I had to make a choice and stay since if I didn’t I would’ve lost out on a good amount of money.

The hotel Beacon is on the upper west side and is a convenient subway ride either downtown or up to Harlem where so many different activities exist in Manhattan that you could never run out in a year! Our bed was great, water pressure was great, staff was wonderful, and the kitchenette was great. We just had breakfast at our room every day saving a lot of time so that we could squeeze as many things in as possible and would love to come back and go to a show at the Beacon Theater sometime right next door. Thank you Hotel Beacon staff for being so kind and welcoming and keeping it clean.
