Great Manhattan spot if you’re looking for somewhere affordable and easy access to the subway!!! Double bed room was small for 2 people but it was a comfortable bed and air/heat was effective. Never had issues waiting for shared bathroom as there were multiple bathrooms on every floor. Five floors and stairs are narrow so not very accessible but that’s the case with most older buildings. Walls are thin so expect to hear people moving about, but again, if you’re looking for a safe and affordable option for staying in Manhattan that has easy transportation, it checked all of those boxes which worked for us! Tina at the front desk was a delight and the other staff I interacted with in passing were kind and courteous.

Staff was available but felt off in that they didn’t verify my ID. Common areas (kitchen and bathroom) were nicely updated. The bedroom itself was clean but walls looked like they can used a paint or cleaning. For some reason the heat was on despite the high for the day being 70

Cons: Extremely small room, no wash clothes, no bed blanket (had to ask for one), 5th floor walk up (no elevator), and lots of heavy slamming doors throughout the night. Pros: Great location, secure building and rooms, and friendly staff. Note: This is a hostel so you get to share a bathroom with 4 other rooms per floor.

I don't generally stay in hostels and didn't expect that much, and so wasn't that disappointed. The bathrooms were fine, although having soap consistently would be nice. The bedroom was very small and kind of worn, which gets to the main issue - $280/night for this?? That's highway robbery, no matter what the market will bare. I made the reservation very late, because of a flight cancellation, and I don't know if they engage in some sort of dynamic pricing scheme, but I had just stayed in Williamsburg in a Pod hotel which was MUCH nicer for the same price.

Clean, cozy and great location

I stayed here for four nights on a solo trip. I have stayed in hostels before, so I knew what to expect in the way of smaller, shared accommodations. Arrived late in the evening and the desk attendant was friendly and knowledgeable. I was helped upstairs with my bag(s) and shown around on the floor where I would be staying. My room was clean and had its own window unit AC that kept the room cool. Room was about the size you would expect for a hostel but did have a full-length mirror and an armoire in which to hang clothes, which was helpful. Each floor has two restrooms, both good sized with full showers; very clean and well maintained. I never had to wait to use the restroom and was never interrupted by other guests rushing me when I was showering, etc., but obviously that may not be the case during peak travel times of the year. I chose this hostel due to close proximity to Madison Square Garden, just a short walk away. Plenty of nearby restaurants and bars, walkable to Penn Station and subway. Check out was just as easy as check in, with same attendant. Everything here met or exceeded my expectations. Please make sure you research what exactly hostel accommodations are like because they truly are meant for solo travelers who don’t plan to spend much time in rooms other than sleeping and showering, and the room sizes reflect this. My only complaint was lag in WiFi when on Zoom meetings for work, but connection was fine for phone calls and general internet use.
