I would recommend the Romer. The staff is helpful and friendly, the rooms are spacious and clean, the lobby is large and has plenty of places to work or visit with friends. It's a pretty good bargain for the money. If you're looking for contemporary design and an updated hotel this isn't the place for you. The decor is dated but everything is kept up well. The biggest drawback is that it's on 8th Ave where the foot and vehicle traffic is intense and extremely noisy. The upside of 8th Ave is that it's walking distance to the Broadway theatres, lots of great restaurants and many subway lines.

Even if the deco seems a bit dated, the hotel is very comfortable, staff very friendly and the hotel very functional. Perfect location, close to metro and walking distance to most attractions Plenty eating places 5 to 7 minutes walking distance We will definitely stay there again!

We have stayed in this hotel before when it was the Hampton Inn and enjoyed the location and spacious rooms. However, be very cautious if you are a woman who uses aerosol dry shampoo. I received an email during my second day that I was vaping/smoking in my room- I wasn’t, I explained that I had used an aerosol dry shampoo that morning and that I would buy a powder version to avoid setting off the sensor again (they installed a new system). When I was checking out, I learned that I would be charged $573 for this violation. I told them to test the spray, search our bags, etc- there was no vaping in our room. Such an unfortunate end to what should have been a nice week. For using dry shampoo in a hotel room.

Great hotel, ideal location. All worked out well except an unexpected 45 dollar charge that should have been disclosed on hotel websites. The staff was forced to provide disingenuous explanations at check in- when it is too late for guests to opt out!!

Excellent stay in Manhattan

I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The location was perfect—close to top attractions, restaurants, and public transit. The room was clean, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet for the city. Staff were friendly and attentive. I’d absolutely stay here again!
