Travis and the staff at the Sonders (THE DUTCH) are amazing. This is our third time staying here and we recommend this place to anyone. The views of Manhattan are amazing too. This place is quiet and near to everything you would like to do in NYC.

Very clean, quiet room. Perfect for 4 nights while we were in town for the United Airlines half marathon. Easy access to trains and quick trip into Manhattan. Coffee machine and water on ground floor. Using the mobile app to access the room is very quick and convenient.

Avoid this hotel unless you’re looking for a bare-

Sonder The Dutch in Long Island provides little beyond the room itself. You’re expected to pick up your own towels, they charge extra for room cleaning, and there are no vending machines. When I asked about the broken ice machine, the front assistant casually mentioned that it’s just not plugged in. Additionally, when I inquired about the fine print on their app regarding cleaning charges, the staff claimed those fees don’t apply at this location—an explanation that felt inconsistent and confusing. Unlike other hotels we have stayed at, the high weekend rates carry over into weekdays even though they would offer lower rates for new reservations. When I inquired about an early checkout, I was told I could leave but would still be charged for the rest of my stay on the higher rates. It also seems intentional that there’s no manager on-site, making it impossible to address concerns or hold anyone accountable. The encounter my husband had with the staff was horrible. They resisted giving information on where to file complaints and would not speak with Sonder’s corporate office on the phone. We did finally resolved the issues with an upper level staff the following day, but this experience was so disappointing that I will never stay at another Sonder-branded hotel anywhere in the world. Their lack of accountability, inconsistent practices, and disregard for guest satisfaction make this brand a complete no-go for me. Definitely not worth the cost.

Sonder , The Dutch was cool. I just didn’t appreciate their cancellation policy, after a discrepancy on their part. They made an error and almost got away with charging me for it. A terrible occurrence indeed.

Very nice very loud

The property is very clean and the design looks nice and the front desk employees are very helpful and kind. However the walls and doors are incredibly thin. I heard every baby and TV and music speaker up and down the hall and every time the elevator opened. (at least it’s not in Manhattan where there would be cars honking and sirens wailing.) Bring earplugs nonetheless!

I will never stay in your hotel again

Very disappointed in the service and cleanness of the hotel. Our tv didnt work and was told that no one could fix it till the morning. When i turned down the bedding their was dark long hair strands on the sheets snd the pillow cases were stained. We were told thst housekeeping would come the next day. Told the front desk that was not accetpable . So she brought sheets up in a brown bag and said here. Asked if she was going to make the bed, she said no that we would have to do it. I told her that we would like to cancel the rest of our stay. I will never stay in your hotel again. I have told this story to all the people i have visited and will continue to tell what happened to us .
