The Box House is a lovely boutique hotel. We enjoyed the breakfast that we chose to include in our package. Our room was quiet and comfortable, although we could hear footsteps from upstairs. The desk staff wasn’t entirely helpful and kept me on long holds. Please be aware that this property charges a facilities fee that was not included in my Expedia package. I was surprised with additional $240 fee for six nights when we checked in. Neither Expedia, nor the property would refund the fee even though I was never told about it. I was disappointed. I would return to this property as my family lives walking distance away and next time I will be sure to ask about the additional facilities fee.

Front desk staff could be friendlier. The subway stops are 10 to 15 mins walk so I would prepare for that. The room is beautiful, spacious, and clean. I love the balcony.

It was ok .. we tried to check in early ( at 2:40) and they charged us $50 for early check in . We had no choice but to pay it as we had a tight turn around time .

We were so excited to support a Latin-X business and we were disappointed the moment we walked in. We were poorly greeted with no hello but we need a card for incidentals and no smiles. We then got our room and when we moved the throw blanket, we noticed blood on the comforter and make up on the throw pillow. I have pictures to prove it. When the cleaning lady came she said in Spanish “I changed this room, it wasn’t there.” My husband and I speak Spanish and then said to her “do you think you we did this” . She then asked if we wanted a different room and she ran downstairs to tell the front desk before we can get down there. There was no apology from the front desk for this and the fact I have a broken foot and had to come back down with all our luggage- was even more infuriating. The two front desk agents just stared at us like we were the problem. My husband then asked the one girl why she was just staring and not saying anything to us. When she finally spoke, it was with attitude “I’m not staring at you”. We asked for a manager and they said the manager will be in tomorrow. We had a wedding so we couldn’t get the manager and we’re not trying to have the rest of our trip ruined by this . My husband and I both travel for work and this by far was the worst customer service we have ever experienced.

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the Box Hotel, and our experience was overwhelmingly negative, primarily due to the incredibly rude front desk staff. Check-in is at 3 PM, but when we arrived at 4 PM, our room wasn’t ready. After a 20-minute wait, we were given a basic room instead of the duplex suite we reserved. The front desk claimed our booked room had “water damage,” but they only mentioned this when we confronted them, which felt like an attempt to downgrade us without compensation. After more back and forth, we were moved to another room that was still not what we booked and still being cleaned. A bellhop, noticing our dissatisfaction, suggested we speak to the front desk again. Kristina, the front desk staff member, was shockingly rude—raising her voice and blaming us for the situation. We also saw her mistreat other guests throughout the weekend. Eventually, another staff member intervened and finally got us into the original room, which showed no signs of water damage. The entire ordeal was frustrating and left a terrible impression. We will not be returning to the Box Hotel and strongly recommend choosing another place to stay.
