It’s close to everything Times Square, Rockeller etc. Dislike that only one elevator was working for so many people. Many times we had to just walk up or down the stairs (15th floor.) The elevator took very long and can only fit like 6 people with luggage’s A lot of people were. Waiting in the lobby for the elevator . the ice machines were not working on 7th or 10th floor.

As expected. Was clean, great location, had what we needed. One elevator is broken so getting up and down can take a long time. We had an issue with adjusting our heat temp. Could not get in touch w front desk, went down to talk to them when we got back late night and “J” she said her name was, was an absolute nightmare to talk to. No help until the next day. Slept a blanket on the heater to avoid having cold air blow on us all night. Could have been avoided if they just told us how to adjust the temp the first time we asked. Think we made about 16 calls to front desk total before actual help.

The location is great. The room size and accomodations were acceptable for the price. The staff is very kind. But, the room and air conditioner were dirty, so we all got allergies just for being in the room. At night, we saw three little cockroaches running around the room. Housekeeping does not clean thoroughly the room and they did not change our bed sheets the whole stay. But the biggest headache is the ELEVATORS, that is the true nightmare. The elevators are tiny and slow, they only carries 6 to 7 people at a time if they are extremely close to each other. We were staying at the 10th floor, so sometimes we had to wait 15 to 20 minutes for the elevator, because the elevator was full everytime it opened, and very often one of them didn’t work, at one point, both of them did not work. That forced us to plan ahead our whole schedule, including breakfast time, just to consider the elevator waiting time. Also, when we came back from walking the whole city, tired and eager for a shower, many times we had to make a line for the elevators, yeah, after making a thousand lines for attractions…specially when people were checking in and have their baggage with them, cause’ then it only fits 4 people at the most. I got to tell you, for the purpose of our trip, the room did the job. One very positive thing was the bathroom, so big and comfortable, with amazing hot water. Also, the japanese restaurant of the Hotel, great prices and food. Think it through!

The Gallivant is by far the worst hotel i’ve ever stayed at. At first glance, I already knew that the hotel was completely different from how it was advertised online. Online, the rooms looked nice and clean, but I can confidently say that my room was quite the opposite. It was extremely dirty and I didn’t want to touch anything. First of all, there is no thermostat in the room to control the heating and the AC. We were so hot and literally overheating, that we proceeded to sleep with the windows open.. in December. Second of all, they don’t inform you on how loud the surroundings are. It was very hard to sleep at night due to the noise from the bar/club connected to the hotel. I felt the base of the music all night. Third of all, the elevator is incredibly slow and even ran out of order during our stay. Our room was on the 9th floor and we had to go up the stairs in order to get back. To add, there is a bad smell in the hallway and in the room. It’s as if you tried to cover up mold and dirt with paint. For the girls… We even noticed a man laying on his hotel bed watching us through his window.. It was very scary and made us super uncomfortable considering he was also staying on the same floor, parallel to us. I payed 500$ CAD a night for this room, and I don’t even know if i’m able to say that it’s worth 100$. Side note : The walls are chipped, the lamp does not work, the bathroom lights were flickering and our room key suddenly stopped working.

Julio was the best feature of the hotel
The condition of the hotel was what we expected for the price. The location is excellent to see shows. Staff was friendly and attentive, with Julio being the superstar. He is a consummate host and bent over backwards to make sure we had a pleasant stay.

No hot shower! I wasn’t able to take shower because the hot shower wasn’t working. It’s either no one answers in the reception area or you gotta leave a voicemail to recep during wee hours. And the worst, my newly shopped Louis Vuitton paper bag and gift box was smeared inside with the chocolate crumbs which fell inside the box because the cleaning staff put the chocolate bread box inside it after I had a late checkout. Gallivant Hotel that LV box is a gift for someone and you just messed up the gift box! Terrible terrible service! Not recommendable hotel very bad experience!

Wifi = only works in the lobby. Comfort = pathetic. Street noises are unrestricted I woke up many times thinking I was sleeping on the curb. Windows don’t open or even crack open. Heat worked but the vent was busted and disgusting looking with no thermostat. Bathroom = tiny, shower works but shower has no door so be careful when stepping out because the whole bathroom will be soaked. Elevators - One of the elevators worked the other was broken the entire time. The one working was extremely small and slow. We had to take the stairs most of the time and those were disgusting as well. Staff = rude, one of the ladies was yelling at someone on the phone while trying to check people in. AVOID THIS HOTEL! 1/10 overall, only reason for the high score I gave, was the location. It was pretty close to time square.

Always like staying here, staff is welcoming and friendly. My only quip would be the elevators. Only one was working and it took 15 minutes to get to my room when checking in. I wound up taking the stairs later in the day (8th floor).

We booked this property for a 4 day stay to just visit all areas of NYC. We arrived around 10am due to our early flight and we requested to store our bags with the bellhop since we cannot check-in until 3pm. They charged $3 per bag to store bags out in the open for anyone to touch. Once we got checked in at 330pm there was a LONG line for the only working elevator that holds a maximum of 7 people. Luckily we were on the 4th floor so we opted to carry our bags up the slippery stairs to the 4th floor in order to maximize time. When we opened the stairwell door to the 4th floor the air reeked of marijuana even though the hotel says no smoking. The carpet in the hallways are torn and worn to hell. We got to our room and it was “cleanish”. It was warm in the room so we took our coats off (it was 35 degrees outside) and tried to get comfortable. The air unit would turn on and blow a fan but never cold or even cool air. We opted to open the window to let in some fresh air to help with the weed smell and the hot stagnant air. Next, the shower took over 15 mins to get moderately warm water to come out of the shower. The shower is missing a door (after we asked we were told that all rooms have this shower set up) and no matter how or where the shower head is pointed, water spills onto the bathroom floor and floods. Emergency sirens and horns are loud and the windows don’t seem to filter the sound at all. The only positive here was a clean bed. Absolutely NO AMENITIES either!

Girls trip of four 50 year olds - two stayed in the queen bed and two of us got bunk beds! We laughed and were a bit worried one would crush the other, but all was good. Great place to stay if you're not spending a lot of time in the room, but out in NYC. Super convenient location, affordable pricing. Lots of work being done when we were there and the website isn't updated (I told them) so no breakfast is included anymore and there IS a fee to leave baggage with the concierge. Other than those minor inconveniences, great choice!!

The hotel had a good location but that was about it. They only had 1 working elevator for the whole building, and it was very small. It took and average of 10 minutes to get inside of it. The property was very outdated. The locks on the doors didn’t lock. The bathroom door knobs were very loose. It also appears that the heating for the entire building is managed by 1 person and we could not find a thermostat. I tried calling the front desk multiple times but no one ever answered. The sink and shower water only had 1 setting and it was extremely hot, it burned every time you tried to wash your hands. The walls were very thin as we could hear other guests talk from their rooms, every time a door shut it would eco into our rooms. Overall the only positive thing about this hotel was its location.

You get what you pay for
Heat and hot water was out for two days prior to our arrival. Only one elevator was working and it was a 10 minute wait every time you needed to go back to your room. We used the stairs and we were on the 10th floor so it was a trek. Saw various bugs in our room which was unsettling. But, you get what you pay for. So for $150 a night in timea square during the holidays I wasn't expecting glamour.
