Great value hotel in excellent location

Fantastic location as the hotel is close to subway station so can easily get anywhere, but it’s in a more peaceful part of town. There are loads of excellent restaurants and coffee shops around. Our room (two double beds) was spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend and would definitely stay again.

Good location

We stay at the Lucerne only because it’s one of the only hotels on the Upper West Side, and it’s closest to where our friends and family live. It has few amenities (other than Nice Matin), and the bedroom decor is not very attractive.

LUCERNE HOTEL - nice location

The Lucerne Hotel has a nice location on the UWS and its staff is friendly, rooms clean and comfortable with decent views of 79 th and AMSTERDAM. My problem is not with them but with the virtually useless HOTELS. Com with whom I unfortunately booked the reservation. I realized about a week prior to our stay that we would just require 1 night not the 2 night duration we initially booked. After. trying to locate the HOTELS. Com phone number for 30 minutes spoke to a clearly incompetent worker who told me I needed to cancel the initial reservation and start over making a brand new one for 1 night. I protested as this seemed unnecessary and he relented telling me after 20 long minutes on the phone that this was done and we were successfully changed to the desired 1 night stay! However - shock shock - this was no record of this change at the hotel who still had us booked and charging for a 2 night stay! After protesting and wasting another 20 minutes the hotel - still with no documentation of our revised agenda by HOTELS.com, agreed to the 1 night stay requested. I will conclude by saying HOTELS.com, jn my opinion, has no value other than to waste time and obfuscate the reservation. I will never use them again for any future booking. I urge you to avoid them as well to lower your stress level and general impairment of your mental health.

The bed sheets didn’t seem to be too clean. In general, the room doesn’t look very clean. I like the the the hotel. I like the location. The people who works there are very courteous and polite. It just feels a little unclear. Frankly, I will think twice before I stay in this hotel again. No disrespect. Thank you.

A good choice on the UWS

I was very happy with this hotel. The room was quiet, clean, and quite spacious by NY standards. (Admittedly, I was upgraded from a Queen to a King.) Check-in and check-out were quick and easy. And the subway is a very short walk away. On this trip I came to attend an event at Columbia U, so the location was perfect, but even if I were going to midtown I would choose the UWS over Times Square any day.

Beautiful building in a great location for access to all NYC fun. So lovely to have a tall ceiling and space in the room. The restaurant downstairs has great coffee and breakfast and the staff in the hotel are very friendly.
