We stayed at Westgate Grand Central for five days. All in all we really enjoyed it. It’s a smaller, historic hotel and the staff are really friendly. Our room on a corner of the 11th floor was cozy and quiet. It was smaller than it appeared in the photo but we were ok with that as everything was very nicely done. The bed was comfortable, the pillows as well, and maid service was great. The only thing I would suggest is that the music played in the lobby areas is not so loud and more mellow. It’s always nice to hang out in the lobby between activities in a hotel - and the bar is a nice touch - but I didn’t find it as relaxing as songs like “Livin on a Prayer” were on all day and quite loud. The seating area across from the bar could be updated a bit, and with some different music playing (or at least during the morning and midday) would be really much more inviting. But all in all we loved our stay - the location is great - near the UN and grand central station and the main library and tons of restaurants. We had a great time.

What the property may lack, the staff makes up for!! The staff is happy, accommodating, personable; I can’t praise them enough!! Rooms are small, but clean and you have what you need for a stay in the city.

One horibble night...but otherwide good.
There was a horrible noise that happened most of the night in my original room, 1019. Could not sleep. A man came up and said that it was the HVAC and they had been working on it for years...told me if I turned off the HVAC it would quit happening, which it did. At the desk the nest5 morning I asked if was to choose between sleep and HVAC and they moved me to a nice room. I wanted to ask for a refund for 2 sleepless nights but didn't...too much trouble. I wish they had offered. This is a nice place...why would they put people in a room knowingly that would be a horrible place. No cluse..I will stay there again but make sure I am nowhere near the room they gave me at first. The review would be excellent if not for that ridiculous incident. Nice people, nice rooms, nice housekeeping...all good if they don't knowing put people in a room in which it is impossible to sleep.
