The entrance is a bit Brutalist Architecture but the site is fabulous. Rooms really nice. Love the balvony - so I can have an open window! Yesssss!

Great location, with reduced parking rate of £12.50 for 24hrs for guests. Hotel has dated decor but rooms are large and clean. Unfortunately, the air conditioning in the room does not work (the panel said we had it set to 17 degrees as it weakly blew out warm air). The large windows cannot be opened and allow sun to stream in but no heat to escape. The room was stifling on arrival with no means to cool it other than a desk fan which helped a little. The beds are comfortable but the heat level in the room led to an uncomfortable night. We have stayed here a few times as it is good value for the location, but we would hesitate to stay during summer again unless we read that they have new air conditioning.

The rooms are a little dated but they look over the river which is nice on a morning having a cuppa. The reception staff are not that helpful. We had a mix up with the parking and Nicola the reception Manager must have been having a bad day she was very reluctant to help and had a very bad attitude. The situation was resolved quite easily and there was no reason for her to make us feel stressed. We left feeling we may never stay there again as we have stayed in other hotels such as Crowne Plaza and The Vermont who have on-site parking and go the extra mile to make your stay exceptional.

This was my second stay at this hotel. I came back because I really liked it the first time! On arrival, our rooms were ready. The staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered a couple of taxis during our stay which was arranged by the staff. Our baggage was safely left in the luggage room on the day of our departure, which made it so much easier on our last day. If I had any gripe at all, it was in-room information. But this seems to be the same in most hotels these days. I miss having a menu, opening times, local sights etc in a booklet or folder. Using the TV and searching for stuff is just not the same. I wanted to know what time the fitness room was open. But this was not supplied without asking at reception. As I say, a minor gripe. I would most definitely stay at The Copthorne again.

Faded but comfortable

Good stay, staff were great, especially reception. Room wasn’t cleaned - there were 3 different tags to hang on the door dependent on what level of refresh you wanted. It wasn’t clear that the refresh meant the bed wouldn’t be made, simply clean towels. Bit disappointing to come back to an untouched room each day. Breakfast was average and for the price, expensive. Location good. Hotel next door has a great restaurant for evening meal.

Lovely welcome. Quiet room looks to be recently renovated in a calm palette, makes a change from over-designed colour-rich rooms elsewhere. All very soothing with FANTASTIC River view. Nice work Copthorne Hotels!
