Old but Charming
The staff were superb, friendly, helpful, welcoming, and they went out of their way to ensure that I had a pleasurable experience. I stayed in the Penthouse which didn't have a charging point for my toothbrush or shaver in the bathroom, and the coffee served at breakfast was terrible! Besides these two minor setbacks, the hotel is in a great location in the city centre opposite the train station, albeit the decor of the hotel is rather old but it does have a certain charm about it.

An excellent hotel conveniently located opposite Newcastle Central Station and within easy walking distance to many shops, bars,and attractions, the reception staff are so friendly and helpful and are a credit to The County Hotel. This was my grandson's first stay in a hotel so wanted to make it a good experience for him and this hotel did exactly that. Would definitely recommend this hotel and stay again next time I'm in Newcastle.

Central location
Great central location, next to the station / metro. Staff all very friendly. Unfortunately mid week Christmas party on just under our room which was very noisy (and not mentioned at the time of booking) and like other affected guests, wanted to be moved. Had booked a deluxe twin which was reallly nice but had to move to a smaller and inferior room but at least we could sleep! Staff however managed this move promptly and without fuss. Ate in the restaurant which was fine. Nice wine bar attached to the hotel

Gave us a different room because of a wedding already booked in Room was small with bed against a wall. Had to climb over my husband or wake him up during night to use the bathroom. Bar service was slow question over 25 minutes still didn’t get served. Asked restaurant manager and he said short staffed n bar nothing to do with him very rude.

We booked the property thinking it had parking. It did but you had to park at the sister property and walk uphill, carrying all your stuff. You also aren't guaranteed a park, there are about 10 spaces for both the hotel and the aparthotel. The lift wasnt working on arrival. Told we were on the fourth floor, which was 8 flights of stairs up. Wouldn't return.
