The hotel is ideally situated for us to visit family north of Newcastle. The hotel and staff are wonderful and there is free EV charging there (4 units, so first come …) There are good links by metro into Newcastle if needed. We have stayed here at least 4 times and will always continue to do so

We were upgraded to a junior suite. Not a huge room but very quiet. The room looked into an internal atrium so there was absolutely no traffic noise. The room was well appointed and clean. The big bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was basic but fine. For first time visitors (like us) the entrance to the car park is almost impossible to find.

Very pleasant but with some issues

The staff were very friendly and the decor was lovely throughout the hotel. The hotel was clean and lots of extras in the room e.g dressing gowns. Furnishings are comfortable. The blackout curtains did not block out the light because they are set too far from the wall so there’s about a 6 inch gap on each side of the curtains allowing the room to flood with light in the morning. Similarly, the “soundproof” rooms are certainly not that. I could hear lots of conversations from even across the hall in the morning. Personally also found the mattress too soft, but this is a personal preference and everyone cannot be satisfied.

From the minute i checked in i felt at home, this was our second visit to gnh and as before everything was perfect while we was there there was a wedding being held there even though they had a party downstairs in one of thier function rooms we never heard a thing, our only bugbear is that the room that we stayed in could do with better lighting!. The Hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard, to look at the hotel is gracefully even though it is a large building, there are a number of entrances weather your there to stay or even to watch the football!! We stayed and ate in the bar the food was served hot and delicious. But for me what stood out most was the staff, nothing was a problem for them and everyone was polite, friendly and respectful. In all a very positive experience and will certainly return to the Great North Hotel

Stayed here for The Great North Run. Staff very friendly. The staff laid out food for the runners on the morning of the race. Loved the hotel. Nice food. Good location. Easy to get to town centre. Bus and metro within walking distance. We were upgraded which was a lovely surprise. Definitely stay there again

This is a great hotel. Whenever we visit Newcastle upon Tyne we always stay here. The hotel is excellent value, very clean, quiet and the staff are very friendly and engaging. The restaurant and bar are excellent. There is plenty of free parking too.

Just one night stopover, staff super helpful and friendly, hotel is still relatively new by the condition of things and rooms / bathroom are very comfortable and pristine. Highly recommend.
