Having grown up in the area, I always new the hotel was there but obviously had no reason to stay there. Now that I'm no longer local, I took the opportunity to stay here while visiting Newport. It was a blast from the past - reminding me of hotels from the 60s. The theme of the past doesn't mean the hotel is stuck in the past. The service was excellent, the rooms were excellent and clean, the amenities were in great shape. It was a fun experience and I would visit again It just felt nicely nostaglic.

Top marks for the Howard Johnson.
Quick overnight trip to see the Elephant migration by Salve Regina Cliff walk. This hotel.was was spotless, inside and the grounds outside were too! We had a small dog with us, so we were in a separate pet building, although you would never know it. No dog smells, and again exceptionally clean. I have to mention the staff, talk about friendly. They couldn't do enough for you. Breakfast was free, and more than adequate and again so very clean. I would definitely stay in a heartbeat, and please let your staff know we value their hard work.

So convenient especially for not being right downtown Newport. Quick 10 min Uber ride and food right next door. Hot tub looked gross but kids had fun in the pool, breakfast was fantastic and our room was great! Some staff at the front desk Durning check in was not very friendly at all.

The staff was all lovely at the property. The rooms were very clean the pool was clean. The area is just so so. One concern I had is that the breakfast buffet served eggs with cheese but did not note that they had wheat in them. Interestingly they have gluten-free bread options that are marked gluten-free so you would think that they would Mark eggs, which are naturally guten free, as contafree because they were processed. luckily my husband asked and I did not eat them.

Good Value Hotel.
Good price point to check out all the cool spots in Newport. 15 minutes from most stuff. 10 to 15 bucks if you choose to Uber. To get close enough to walk to those spots would cost four times as much per night. And the accommodations are good. Good pool. Hot tub. Sauna. Good parking lot. Decent free breakfast. Its also close to the other end of the street so you can access the fast food restaurants or chain restaurants, to give your wallet a break from coast.

As the other reviews said, it was super clean, everything worked- A/C, etc. Decent breakfast available for free. Price for the room was higher than I think it should be, but that’s what Bidenflation has done to us….. would definitely recommend to a friend. It’s an easy drive into town to take in all of Newport, don’t spend the extra $ on a room at the marina.

One night mother/ daughter stay
I was simply impressed by all that this hotel had to offer! The overall hotel was very nice and was just perfect for my daughter and I! We loved the hot tub, pool, sauna and that the hotel is connected to Applebees for a quick bite ti eat after we checked in late. The lady in the evening at the desk was so so welcoming and upbeat! Thank you!
