Very Good

Loved the room and the general atmosphere of the hotel.
The staff were always welcoming and positive in their approach to my family.
I would love to return to The Royal if I was ever in Nîmes again.
Cannot fault the location but that’s where it ends. Looking at other reviews a lot depends on your room. Ours was the broom cupboard. So small the door hit the bed when you walked in. Staff initially friendly but when we found out the Festival was on and the hotel was hosting a party they became very unfriendly! They’d known about the event 3 days before but hadn’t thought to inform us. If they had we would have cancelled. No chance of a room on the other side as fully booked. Expedia was useless too. They gave us ear plugs - marvellous! No free breakfast or any other basic compensation to make us happy. Manager couldn’t care less. No lift by the way, young man helped us with them but no offer to bring them down on the day we left. Hotel a mess due to all the work going into the party and restaurant closed.Shower broken - nothing done about it
Stayed here for one night on our way home from the south. Lovely central location, friendly staff, buzzy restaurant, a/c in the room - though room 10 has v.small windows!
Being a 3 star it was excellent. The staff very friendly and helpful. Although restaurant under our window it was very quiet. Close to all tourist attractions and opposite the Temple. The continental breakfast was very good. Good value for money.
This hotel is in an interesting and historic building. The room was small but had all we needed. The ensuite shower room was new and pleasant, and overall they had made the most that could possibly be made of the space! The staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, even though i have many allergies, and as we had an early taxi, which they booked for us at short notice, we appreciated the quick and efficient service. Our main difficulty was that due to a train delay of over 2 1/2 hours, on Labour Day, the front reception was closed when we eventually arrived. However an arrangement was in place where we were able to access the key code to the hotel and our room, and paid in the morning. There did not seem to be a lift, which was difficult for one member of our party with ann injured ankle. But overall, we loved our stay, with a fab feature being the view of the Maison Carrée from the dining room window!
Lovely property in a good central area. Nice big comfortable room which was very quiet.

Not worth the money
The location is great, the staff members are friendly.
Stayed in room 2, which is over the reception/ bar payment area / staircase, the noise was dreadful every night, that went on quite late, as my bedroom was over that area. You could also hear every noise from the room above. Couldn't turn the air conditioner turned on despite asking quite a few times. A staff member did try, but wasn't successful. Then said it was too cold to have it on. It was 26 degrees. Quite a few mosquitoes in the room too. Shower in 2nd bedroom was hit and miss with the temperature of the water. After complaining about the noise (really couldn't sleep!) I was told they'd look into getting me another room which would have been nice if they'd actually told me if they had one spare or not. No one came back to me on it. And reception "closes" between 7pm and 8pm.
So over all not an enjoyable stay and definitely not worth the money we spent. I did ask reception if the owners or manager could contact me but have not heard back as of yet. If there's a reply to this here, I expect it to be the usual auto reply they leave. Wouldn't it be great if they would indeed "progress and improve the experience of our future customers"
It really took the goodness out if the holiday.
"Thank you for your feedback, it is important for us because it allows us to progress and improve the experience of our future customers. Looking forward to having you with us next time. Sincerely, The reception."
Arty hotel well located for the main attractions, canal and gardens. Reception staff were most helpful and friendly. Excellent restaurant too although run separately from the hotel. Garage parking under the plaza just outside. Lift access to street level but note no lift in the hotel. Contact hotel in advance to book parking at reduced rate.
Loved the eclectic decor, the fact that is walking distance from all of the major attractions of Nîmes and there is an underground parking ($) right below the hotel.

Great stay. Location was fantastic and the hotel staff were extremely friendly. The decor is quirky and modern.
The photos of the hotel are better than the real thing, but it's in a great location. Parking is a snap in the immediately adjacent underground lot. There's an Elevator from the parking lot, but not in the hotel, but staff was willing to help with luggage. The Lobby is disjointed, sharing a wait staff station from the connected restaurant, but that's easily overlooked by the helpfulness of the staff. There is ongoing adjacent road construction, but access to the hotel is maintained.
Unexpectedly charming, spacious room! Fantastic location with great surrounding restaurants.

Downtown Hotel Stay
This hotel was very comfortable, but was undergoing some renovations during our stay. We were not alerted of these renovations and was not compensated for the mess. It was still a pleasant stay and great location in downtown Nimes.
its style and superb location make it 4 star anyday -easy to get around -chic punk artistic décor -good food -quiet place -no complaits -the place de assess is a gem of a space itself -loads of gastronomy and culture all around -----
