Good afternoon. I would like to share my horrible experience at the Riu Hotel. Once again, Expedia fails to accurately advertise resorts. This is the second year in a row that I booked an all-inclusive resort through Expedia, and they did not mention that there was construction ongoing.
This time, in Aruba, we decided to try a different island. Being outside the hurricane belt, we chose Riu Hotel, and despite it being the most expensive option, we thought it would be worth it to relax with our family of six, booking two rooms. However, when we arrived the next morning, we were greeted with construction noise from both ends of the buildings within the resort. We were located on the 5th floor, in rooms 1533 and 1534, and traveling with a three-year-old and a nine-month-old, we waited for the elevator for more than 20 minutes each morning because one elevator was out of service for most of the day. I don’t know if they were working on that elevator or if they needed to shut it down to power their machinery in the other buildings, but spending 20 minutes each time we needed to go up or down was nerve-wracking! We would have taken the stairs, but having a stroller made that impossible.
The noise from 8 a.m. until 4 or 5 p.m. was unbearable, and there was also no hot water for the first three days. We took cold showers, which wasn’t an issue for the adults, but it was a nightmare for the children. I have pictures regarding the elevator issue and the lack of hot water!
