The beds were very uncomfortable, the toilet wouldn’t stop running, you had to juggle the handle for the water to stop running and AC unit condensation run off was running into the patio so when we sat on the balcony our feet were soaked with water run off from the AC. The overflow parking was full with people that had illegally parked there and “they were trying to figure that out” so I had to park in an undesignated parking spot because they couldn’t provide me with anywhere else to park. I did mention the toilet and AC run off to the front desk they said they would have maintenance come up but they never did. It had a good ocean front view, if you like looking at ocean with your feet in AC condensation.

At check-in there was delay due to the person at the desk not knowing how to do a few things and having to wait for different employees to come and help. I was sent to the overflow parking lot across the street to find that there was no parking available. However, an employee moved their car in the parking lot at the hotel so that I could have a parking spot. Also, the hotel has a weird smell in the lobby and hallways but the not in the room. Not the best experience for the cost but its a beachfront hotel so you're really just paying for location.

Surfbreak Hotel VA, Beach

The hotel is older but right on the boardwalk with beach access right outside the back door. The rooms are updated. The room was nice and clean upon arrival. We didn't use our do not disturb sign but our room wasnt cleaned in between the nights we stayed. People had their garbage and dirty towels sitting outside their rooms on the hall floors. Hallways were not air conditioned and were very hot. One of the two elevators was down almost all day Saturday which was very inconvenient when hauling beach bags, coolers, chairs, etc. Back to your room. There's also no arrow signs outside the elevators on floors 2-8 so you never knew if the elevators were going up or down until it stopped and you asked the people on it. The pool area was very small but clean. There were maybe 10 chairs total and 2 tables. There's no parking at the hotel so you have to drop your stuff off and drive about 4 blocks away to park. The hotel parking lot was full by 3 pm the Saturday we checked in and check-in for the hotel is at 4 pm. Luckily, we had arrived around 1:30 pm and were able to get a parking spot while we waited for our room to become available. We had friends that arrived after us that were unable to get parking in the hotels lot as it was already full. The front desk staff were very friendly and pleasant. We were there for a long weekend and the bar directly next door had bands and djs throughout the day and night. It was loud at night so if you go to bed early that might keep you up.

Pros: Rooms were sound proof, staff was friendly, parking and layout of hotel was convenient. Convenient area to walk to beach, restaurants, stores and fun park. Cons: very small bathroom with stain in tub, bathroom door was very difficult to shut and open, room service never once serviced the room because they would only come around 9am and if we were still in the room just wouldnt come back. They did give us more towels upon request. The restaurant on site had a very small menu and was overpriced.

Where to start. First I will say front desk staff and house keeping were friendly. Easy check in etc. Now the rest. Room was decent fairly clean. If you are a pot smoker or cigarette smoker this is place is for you. No one cares. Constant smell of pot and cigarette smoke was present throughout. We were only able to sit on balcony for two days. Every other day it absolutely stunk from 600am to midnight. Called numerous times they put letters under people doors. Guess what not a damn thing changed. Still waiting for GM to call as we requested. The hotel is a pig with lipstick. Now Calypso bar. First night got there later. Staff just delivered food and then told us kitchens closed. Fair enough. Went to breakfast next day place was nearly empty except a family pounding the beer at 8 am. Breakfast took 45 min to arrive and another 20 as they ran out of hash browns also gave us frozen butter. The waitress was not wanting to be there. Go elsewhere there are several excellent spots close. Third time sat at chair and three times staff walked by and nothing. Walked out. The pool is disgusting and small. For the price of $300 a night this out of about 80 hotels I’ve stayed at was easily the worst. If your ghetto this is the perfect place for you. No rules ever.

I called 2 days previous to ask if I book a room would it be available early and I talked to an employee that told me to call the morning of the day I want to request. I did that. The front desk said that yes we have availability no early check in fee nothing. Next thing you know I get to the hotel and this is not the case. But because of what the staff told me they accommodated my reservation. The room is very dirty bathrooms out of dates toilet slowly flushes in the AC Harley works.
