Repeat visit

I stayed here recently and two years ago. I had a great stay both times. Staff is friendly. Rooms are simple, clean and comfortable. Location is excellent!

The motel's amenities, while otherwise modest, are very high-tech (e.g., an electronic vanity mirror that is not only self-illuminating but can also defog itself. It also happens to be adjacent to a very nice family-friendly tavern with very welcoming staff, good food for takeout, and excellent choices in local craft beers. It's called the West Passage Brewing Company.

A small 1960s style motel. The staff were nice and helpful. Check-in was easy and parking was convenient. The rooms were very clean but lacking many simple amenities you would find at a more familiar hotel chain.

A leg up

The front desk was very accommodating with the room, ice etc. as my husband explained I had just broken my leg and was in a wheelchair going to the ER. The room was large, clean and completely accessible. Under the circumstances it could not have been better,

After showing one of the owners damage on a window sill, he proceeded to yell at me in front of my children. I offered to pay for what happened and he came up with the number $2,500. Spackle and paint would have been sufficient. The window sill is coated in thick spackle already so, take that for what you will. He called his handy man who stated "all it needs it spackle and paint." I recorded the call as he did this in the room in front of us. I unfortunately called the police because he was out of control. The officer and I spoke in the room. His body cam took record of it. Even he said spackle and paint. The owner fraudulently charged a $2,500 damages fee without an estimate, receipt, phone call--nothing. I called to kindly ask him to refund and I'd pay the amount it actually cost. He simply yelled on the phone and said he was taking me to court. No sense was made. I take accountability for the damage and understand the upset. Having a man yell at me several times in front of my kids and then make charges to my card is poor business practice.

This is a remodeled motor lodge. All rooms are ground level with the door facing the outdoors. No additional security locks or measures for the doors. Felt unsafe here. That said, Wickford Village is just down the road, so the location is misleading on the map.

Epitome of Bare Bones

A clean, stark, bare bones room. If you simply intend to sleep and then leave to explore the area it's not a bad place for that. There's actually good soundproofing and the traffic can't be heard though it's quite close. Just be prepared to go out for coffee - not available in-room. And while there is a microwave, it's the smallest known to man, like the EZ bake oven microwave. So don't attempt to reheat your lg coffee; it won't fit. There is a fridge, but i did not see an ice maker on site (maybe at the office?). It's a VERY tight bathroom design with a separate shower/toilet stall & a sink area with open closet luggage space (floor). It cried out for a pocket door but instead has a hinged door that has you having to stand between shower and toilet in order to close it, and that will also reveal the TP roll only accessible when you close the door. You'll be living out of your suitcase residing on the floor as there is no luggage rack or hanger space or drawers. Ahh, but there is a handy desk & chair. If you want to enjoy Wickford, that is close by as is a park/harbor. A brewpub is right outside the motel as if it was on the property - very convenient, though we made the mistake of playing Trivia night and got sucked into the longest drawwwn oouuut trivia game known to man... but that is NOT connected to the motel. A night or 2 is my limit here. There is wifi but no smart TV so use a device to view netflix etc. Beds are on the soft side but ok.

Stayed here for our anniversary and found the room clean & updated. Plenty of parking, good location and a great brew restaurant next door. You get a 10% discount to the restaurant. We enjoyed breakfast, the coffee was nice & strong & the service fast & friendly. The king bed was very comfy, the bathroom with shower was small but very clean, the shower walls are so cool and the light/fan in the bathroom gives you an option to have a black light (purple), on our next visit I would book the king suite to have the jacuzzi tub!

Manager was very friendly. Room was okay. Recently renovated. Bathroom was not clean and room had overpowering scent. Bed was comfortable. And the manager was able to move bookings around so I could stay in the same room both nights which was convenient. The service was great, I just think the room was a little pricey for what it ended up being. And the bathroom not being super clean was a bit of a turn off for me.

I highly recommend Blue Ocean Motel. Its modern, brand new, extremely clean. North Kingston center is a hidden gem ^?& a mile away from restaurants on the water & cute shops. Owners very friendly.
