Dreadful stay!!

We could not eat anything at the restaurant as no food was labelled and we have food allergies. We contacted the hotel before our stay, so this should not have been a problem. Nut roast sitting in the same tray as roast beef and gravy for example. Very poor, we had to eat elsewhere!!

Once was enough

You need to read the web site thats where the detail is. No room cleaning during the stay Opening and closing hours for pool and gym Cost to use the pool and gym (extra) Room was tiny, heating was unpredictable Glad i reduced from 5 to 4 nights, was still 3 too many. Local village is nice and good quality food. (Black Horse)

Firstly, we had to pay extra to use the pool & spa, this wasn't clear when we booked and is very strange when you are travelling with kids and book a hotel specifically because it has a pool. Secondly, we ate at the hotel in the evening, don't bother. The wrong menu was showing so we didn't get the food what we expected and we wouldn't have bothered if we had seen the correct menu at the start. Then the food, think poor school canteen food or care home level with cheap frozen food just reheated. Overall it was just awful. Finally, the room was ok but badly needed some maintenance and a lick of paint. The operation at the hotel was just badly organised and it is not what is being advertised as an "elite" hotel and spa. It's a shame as the building is lovely, the staff are nice, and it could be amazing with some care.

The place was beautiful the grounds were stunning especially at night time when it was lit up food was spot on there was plenty of places to relax even a snooker table the room was perfect only issue i had was i think the bathroom needed a bit more light apart from that i would 100000% go again

Took half board package which supplied extreme limited choice of food and the food quality was poor. Breakfast cooked for 100 people at same time but only 10 in the restaurant and selection of fruit was poor. Went into town to eat second day!! Had to pay additional for anything including the gym and was not allowed a tab so had a seperate receipt for every transaction including drinks. Room was not made up in a 2 night stay. Atmosphere overall very negative on a tired building with poor food so not good value for money at £129 a night.

Terribly treated

I was charged for the stay even though I had paid at the time of booking, Was told at reception that hotels.com hadn't paid the hotel! So paid again! One day later the money left my account from the original booking so in essence paid twice, Let the hotel know the next day but was advised they could do nothing about it!! Got in touch with hotels.com & they said the same thing, absolute scam be careful people!!!
