I’ve stayed here numerous times and like the establishment. Last night was different. Because I payed with Apple Pay, apparently the front desk couldn’t honor my reservation (without a physical card, which I don’t have - only my ID and other credit cards). I then had to wait in the lot for an hour while the front desk sorted it out with hotels.com. Upon finally getting that sorted out, the room was very warm and wouldn’t cool down. I tried opening the window but there was extremely loud music blasting from the hotel’s own exterior speakers (I’d originally figured it was a car in the parking lot), so instead I just barely slept in a hot room, after having kind of lousy customer service upon entrance. The room was otherwise clean, just painful check in process and uncomfortable noise/temp levels.

This is my third stay at this property as a Sonesta. I stayed previously when it was a Sheraton years ago. Each time I come, I see improvements in service. I rated the staff a 4 because I left my room keys inside the room & after the door closed realized I left my jacket inside. I saw a housekeeping worker & she directed me To the worker in the hallway that did not understand or speak English. She directed me back to the original employee who then opened my room. Why wasn’t I helped ny the first employee when I asked only to go through drama & be let in by the first employee? Very concerning that there was a disconnect on customer service.

Great bed. Very comfortable. Very nice staff. Clean. I booked a “Accessible” room by mistake. So got a lot of room but slightly disjointed furniture and decor. The shower also didn’t quite fit so had to be held while showering. Other than that quite satisfied. Great location with shopping and dining next door. Good access to freeways. Close enough to the UC which is why we were there.

Don’t stay-room party that went unchecked by hotel

The Sonesta Bay Bridge Emeryville has horrible customer service and allows for unruly guests to go unchecked. I booked a stay from 2.10-2.12 and after I checked in, grabbed dinner and returned to my room. There was a party happening in the room next to mine-with music, smoking and drugs that reeked the whole hallway. I informed the front desk person, who said they’d send their engineer to my room (I left my belongings and key in there when I went to complain to them) in order for him to break up the party. He came up, let me in my room and then left. He did nothing! I moved to a subpar room a floor below. I immediately called the third party agency (which I booked with) to cancel my room right away and refund me. They contacted the front desk person, who told the third party rep that if I left then I would get a refund. When I then went downstairs with my belongings, the front desk said they could only give me a partial refund after denying they said a full refund was coming (and they said they would speak to the engineer about the issue). The front desk person (who checked me in) said she went upstairs as well and smelled the smoke and heard the party, but she also didn’t break it up! I called the hotel manager the next day who said he couldn’t do anything and I needed to contact the third party. The third party sent me an email saying the hotel manager denied my refund. It was a mess! I got a refund from the 3rd party after 4 calls. But advise, DONT STAY HERE!!

Super dog friendly. Extremely close to UC Berkeley (I take school group there every President's Day Weekend) and a ton of food/shops. There's a Burger King and ATMs within a 3min walk. Indoor swimming pool and hot tub. Extremely affordable nightly rate. Sonestas are now my go to wherever I stay.

This is the most disappointing of the very many hotels I have stayed in, in the US and overseas in recent years. Overall, the place looks run down and in need of renovation. The lobby area was depressing. Our room on the 10th floor was clean. However, the closet door stuck on it’s runners when opened and especially on trying to close it. The door of the cupboard holding the refrigerator was hanging skew on loose hinges. The fridge door was open and the floor in front of it was wet. Our TV would not support steaming channels and at reception I was told that all TVs on the 10th floor were in need of servicing and someone would take a look at ours. It worked later. I was obliged to create an account with Sonesta to get decent Internet connection. Now i get unwanted emails from the company and will delete my account. A sign to hang outside our door was labeled on both sides “Unapologetically Unplugged.” We did not know what this meant—“Please clean the room” or “Do not disturb”? I asked in reception. The first person said he had no idea what it meant. The second expressed surprise that I did not know and said it meant “Do not disturb.” I asked an American couple who were checking out and they did not understand it either. Since English is my mother tongue, I asked reception if they expect foreign visitors to understand. The answer was “yes, we have a lot of overseas visitors" which said nothing about whether they do understand.
