The property doesn't live up to the pictures, It is a much cheaper option that other downtown hotels and the free parking is a really nice perk. But it's a basic 2* motel with a light renovation. Bathroom was nicely redone with tile shower walls and tile floors. But there were a few hairs easily spotted on the toilet, 2 of 3 toiletries had fallen off the wall, a giant drywall problem on the ceiling, and both the hotel and street were very noisy. Breakfast was pretty modest and provided for takeout in the lobby which is a tiny area - only hot breakfast option was plain oatmeal packets - who provides plain? I guess that's all that was left at the bottom of the box. Cereals, 1 cup of yogurt, milk, pastry, and apples rounded out the small selection. Staff was helpful and friendly, and the bed was comfy with lots of nice pillows.

The Sather is a dependable stay. Not luxury but has parking included and is quiet enough to rest. The shower is hot with good pressure.

The bed was broken when we checked in. We immediately showed them. They said the would fix it or move us. The fix was to put a metal garbage can underneath the frame to hold it up. We stayed there three nights and they never permanently fixed it. We already reached out to Expedia but there was no response. Not good customer service by hotel or Expedia.

Cal Game

Great location to the university, stadium, and bars. Travels with a group of friends to the Cal game. Great location and plenty of food and drink options in the area.
