Room and hotel needs a complete refurbishment. Public areas and lift filthy. The room allocated was nothing like the one in the pictures. Furniture needs replacing. No information given by reception staff on the hotel facilities etc when we checked in. We are arrived at the hotel 20 minutes early we were told to wait in the lounge and we would be told when our room was ready but this didnt happen so we were left waiting in the lounge until we decided to go back to reception and it would appear the staff had forgotten about us.
Very reasonably priced for on the seafront and in easy walking distance to bars and restaurants. Hotel itself is a little dated with some maintenance required but generally we had a comfortable stay.

Not that satisfied for that money.
We got basement room. Sea view was covered with cars. Mattress was very uncomfortable. Carpet was very dirty. Mould on the walls. There was a very odd smell in the corridor .

An average stay in Oban.
Parking issues, basic check in and poor maintenance. Not the best stay.
I had two nights at the Great Western. Wonderful views of the surrounding Harbourside. I could see various boats coming and going. Quite scenic. The bar also has a great view of the water. It’s a 2 min walk to the centre of Oban. Nice pubs, shops and cafes in town too. My room was comfortable, good hot water pressure and it was quiet at night. 👍

I phoned the hotel prior to the visit and was assured that I had a ground floor room (as I explained my mam was 90 and she struggles with stairs)
I arrived and they had put us on the 2nd floor I asked and explained that I had rand prior but there was both they could do. I was a little disappointed
Hotel in need of complete refurbishment. There was poor communication from hotel prior to trip, we were not informed of shortage of car parking spaces. Although food cooked very well there was a ĺack of choice of dishes on menu e.g. only 2 desserts. Although set in a beautiful setting our stay was spoilt by a tired aging establishment.

3 night stay was horrendous from the noise outsode made by young men, women making their way home from the nearby pub/club from approx 11:30pm until 2:30am/2:45am. 3 noghts of very little sleep. Taps in bathroom not working properly. Shower cubicle falling apart.
Staff were great and very helpul, shame they are let down by the condition of the hotel and locality of pub/club 100m along road that seems to have a late licence 7 days a week and drunken homeward bound idiots.
Staff excellent 👌 very friendly room was nice, clean nothing fancy excellent for the money would highly recommend.I had a great time will definitely stay again.
The highlight has to be the very average breakfast on our stay. Hotel is very tired looking from when entering the hotel until you reach your bedroom. The bedroom was dated with a nice cobweb dangling from the ceiling and no BBC services available on the TV.
Walk into the bathroom and it felt like you were back in the 1980’s. Broken tiles and black mould in the grout areas around the bath I guess if there was a window or extractor fan within the bathroom this may assist but no sadly no such luxury. The only way to get rid of any unwanted moisture or smells produced within the bathroom meant the window in the bedroom required to be open and even that only opened 2”. Will not be rushing back. The staff were all nice and friendly but the owners need to spend money and overhaul this out of date building.
Kad lovely stay here in nice big comfortable room with sea view. Thought the cooked breakfast could be a bit better. Overall good experience had.

Room 21 was ok. I know it was a standard room so ok about being at the back of the hotel overlooking the bins and a falling down shed. The room was good and clean but the window was dreadful. Im not kidding the dirt on it was bad and all the old window frame was covered in dried black mold from condensation. I have never seen anything like it. Ivy growing up the outside wall was half over the window and covering the window sill. There was a mark left on the inside of the window frame where the ivy had managed to get inside. The room on a whole was good. Big and clean just a pity that window has been neglected for years inside and out. I have worked in hospitality and been the cleaner and house keeper. I understand the pressures of being short staffed but that window was beyond anything. It truly hadnt been cleaned in years.
