Hotel was great. Good location close to the train station and easy walk to the garden and castle. Breakfast was very good, with Japanese and Western choices.

Good but ...
Ark Hotel has a good location, close to the station and a nice shopping. The room has a good size, it's clean but needs a little modernization. The internet is too slow.
The location and breakfast are good. But the parking is really bad. The parking inside the hotel is for extremely small cars only. Our normal car can only park in the parking lot next to the hotel. Thus there is no in and out service. Once we leave the parking lot, we need to pay the parking fee again.
Walking distance to train station, across the street from a modern department store with an excellent food department and a good variety of restaurants on upper floors. Room was comfortable but I could hear water running in hotel room next door. Information center at train terminal was very helpful with city maps and bus information.
Ark Hotel is just 800m from Okayama JR Station. Is extremely convenient. Besides, Okayama is the gateway to Japan 4th largest island Shikoku. So Ark Hotel should be top choice.
Really nice staff, tried to help us find an English movie channel and were able to provide clear directions to the sites. We put the two beds together since we have an infant tho and it was really nasty behind the beds. Also, it smelled like it used to be a smoking hotel, the elevators and hallways still had the staleness.
