I knew that this stay would be modest at best but I didn’t expect it to be quite this rough. The exterior of the hotel is decent enough, though the entrance could use serious attention: cigarette butts, shovels, and trash set an unwelcoming tone.
Check-in was quick and the lobby, bright & decent. Unfortunately, the positives ended there. The room itself was part neglect, part half-hearted refurb. The living area featured a pull-out sofa marred by what appeared to be oil stains, and it wouldn’t close properly. A small table sat against one wall, while a phone with an extra-long cord rested on the floor of the opposite one. The floors sloped noticeably, giving the space a slight funhouse feel.
The bathroom was decent, seemingly updated, with a new toilet, tub, and shower surround. The bed, was reasonably comfortable, had clean sheets, but was topped with a blanket so worn and stained that I removed it the first night and didn’t use again.
The TV and Roku box didn’t work at all. I asked the front desk clerk the next morning if someone could take a look. He nodded, but I wasn’t convinced he understood. That evening, the TV was still dead and the room hadn’t been serviced — damp towels where I left them. After 3 nights with no service, no attempts to look at the TV, and no one at the front desk I just left.
This stay was disappointing even by modest expectations. A bit of care, and cleanliness could go a long way for the Best Western Brand at this place.
