The walls a very thin, and we heard TV noise from both adjacent rooms. There was also a wet rag on top of the shower curtain rail (From the previous guest? Leftover from cleaning?)
Atomic Motel is such a delight it exceeded all expectations (especially after a stay at another motel on the same trip). The so-called mid-century modern is so in-your-face but whiscical. It brings a smile to my face and a big chuckle when I first entered the room. But charm means nothing if the room is not clean or the appliances do not work. Luckily, the room is as clean as the old property can get, and those themed appliances are all in good working order. The motel also uses technology judicially. Because we were late, they sent a text message detailing everything we needed for late checkin without waking up staff. Usually I am less than thrilled to receive text from a commercial establishment. But this one was very considerable both for me and for the staff.
Astoria is a small town. Atomic Motel is close to everything, although you still need the bus or a car if you want to visit the town.. The motel is very close to the bridge. The view from the parking lot is pictoristic. If you don't want more than the continental breakfast included in hotel fare, go next door to Pig 'n Pancake, a fun local eatery.
Age does take a toll on the property. The shower knobs had a leak when turned on. There was also a strange light incident. We brought these to the attendent during checkout the next morning.
A very unique 50s style property decore that is clean and pleasing. It made for a good stay. Staff was friendly enough. Sits within walking distance of multiple food options, shopping and attractions. They had coffee and a continental breakfast in the AM (time was a bit inconsistent for start) A great price for a good comfy motel.

So I am a caretaker for a friend of mine who at the moment is somewhat disabled. He is a diabetic who got a severe burn on the bottom of his foot. And if you know anyone with diabetes then the foot is the worst place to get any kind of anything. He's hard of walking and so we got him a portable toilet and because we had it in his room when we checked out they decided to literally throw out the beds we were using, and pretty much any thing that i guess we' used or touched. It was low-key embarrassing and made my client feel very "gross. Now everyday that we (then) paid , cash was allowed and so that's how we paid && they didnt, not one time made any b complaints or let us know even after they came and did a stay over they said NADA.
ALSO We also had our service dog with us and we let them know the first day that he was what he was and I'm pretty almost certain they waived the pet deposit the first day only and after that they added it onto the bill. Not the EXPEDIA that we paid thru they redid the whole rental paperwork and didn't give the discounts. They're now attempting to charge my card from 300$ all the way down to $50
But I think they should use that pet deposit they WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO CHARGE for for that. They're just very kinda two faced kinda people. Sucks too because those rooms were cute!!!
The property is quite charming and looks great in photos, which led us to believe everything would be fine. However, upon arrival, we were immediately hit with a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the hotel suite. This was especially surprising given how much emphasis was placed on their no-smoking policy when we signed the paperwork. Unfortunately, the smell lingered so much that even our clothes and luggage carried the scent by the time we got home.
If you’re in a bind and need a budget-friendly option, this place might do in a pinch. But if you’re traveling for vacation or tourism and looking for comfort and a pleasant stay, I would recommend exploring other accommodations.
The staff were super nice and the location was good for the price. Downside is the room needs repair badly. Walls have lots of uneven paint and have seen the wear of time. That being said, good value.

The staff was phenomenal. They helped to get my disabled friend into a room next to mine for a week and were there every step of the way. Thank you guys!
The tv didn’t work and the walls and windows are very thin.

The decor is fun and funky, but not enough to really hit the theme home. It mostly comes across as dated and cheap. The curtains needed at least two more panels to be able to fully cover the window. We were on the ground floor and with the curtains fully stretched we could still see figures walking by our window on either side where the curtains didn't cover enough. The property has potential to be fun but you can tell it's really just a low budget hotel with a little bit of fun decor. The breakfast is simply small, prepackaged foods like granola bars, not nearly enough to even be worth listing as a breakfast at all. It's good for an economy place to stay but certainly wouldn't consider it a destination.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The remote was not paired with the TV. The sink faucet was very stiff. Tile around the tub should be re-done. Patches to tile did not look professionally done. Staff was pleasant. The lobby breakfast leaves a lot to be desired.
Pros: The property is newly renovated and the furniture is all new and in good shape. Memory foam mattress is super comfy. The rooms are quiet despite the property being right on the main drag. Nice view of the bridge and the river from outside. Check-in and check-out were easy. The nightstands have LOTS of readily-accessible outlets and USB charging ports for your personal electronics. The doors use a keyless combo pad to unlock so no key to worry about losing. Plenty of dining options within walking distance and a minimart just across the street, and the ice machine is complimentary. The TV has full cable with on demand.
Cons: The bathroom fixtures are showing their age and the water pressure in the shower could be better. The rooms have heat and a box fan but no AC, so if you like to sleep in a cold room you'll need to keep the windows open and/or get creative with that fan. The doors have a chain lock but no deadbolt. There's no overhead lighting in the main room, so if you keep your curtains closed the room is going to be dim even with both table lamps and the bathroom lights on. No landline phone in the room.
Overall: basic but cozy, reasonably priced for a weekend getaway, a little bit of a walk from downtown Astoria but easily within walking distance of just about everything in town.
