I was unsure if I would like this place, but once I checked him, the lady at the front desk was so nice and answered all of my questions I felt very at ease. Since it was a busy weekend getting to the showers in the morning was a bit difficult but I only had to wait another 10 minutes before they were free. Other than that, the room was comfortable. The bed was great. The view was excellent and everybody was very helpful. I would highly recommend this place as a stay for my next visit to Astoria.
Very unique property. Old historic building in the middle of downtown Astoria. Cool lobby decorated with old vinyl records. This is a European style hotel with lots of character. The rooms do not have modern appliances like TV's, microwaves, refrigerators or bathrooms. Instead, there are shared bathrooms and a community kitchen where you can cook and store your food (there are sinks in the rooms). Tons of restaurants within walking distance including breweries and food trucks. There is no elevator (not handicap friendly) and there is no parking lot. If you are okay with that, you will love this place. Definitely worth the low price.
The person who checked me in on Wed. night was very friendly and efficient. I was later than intended and she had called my home asking if all was OK. I appreciated her concern and the trouble she took to make the call. cs
This was a really fun stay. The front desk loans out record players and old albums to play in your room. It's a cross between a hotel and a hostel. Nice kitchen you can use. Bathroom and showers down the hall. You get a sink in your room. They provide robes which is a nice touch. Location is great with restaurants and bars and shopping close. Parking is on the street. Bed was comfortable with nice bedding. Very friendly staff. Will stay again
Very pleased with my overnight stay. The hotel has shared toilets and shower rooms. This place does it very well. The room was spotless. No “smells”. There is a ceiling fan and windows that open-a lovely breeze to sleep with. The bed was very comfortable. There is a sink in the room which I found made it more comfortable. I enjoyed my stay and will go back. I highly recommend.
Excellent value hotel in center of town, walking distance to most things. Street parking only. Selected room with private bath but shared bathroom was so clean that would not hesitate to stay in room with shared bathroom. Solo traveler. Felt safe at all times. Will return to this hotel in future.
Not a terrible experience, but not an amazing one. Hotel is very basic and feels at times like a hostel.
It was not clear on booking and did not realize it till after, but most of the basic rooms do not have a toilet or shower (there are shared units, like a dorm room).
There is a sink with a mirror in the room.
No basic amenities that one would typically receive in an above average hotel.
Theming is cute, but the lobby is up 2 flights of stairs with no elevator.
The rooms also lack an AC, they do supply a fan for the room (make sure to take weather into account when staying).
Walls are very thin and windows lack any sound proofing. The doors all have old school physical keys, so the sound of doors slamming and locks turning, will sound all day and night.
The "quiet hours" were not respected by most guests and there is no hotel security. Several days the hotel front door is left open and the dront desk agent was either no where to be found or hidden in an office area. A person could easily wander in and use the facilities (the bathrooms and showers are not locked up).
Overall an incredibly basic stay and for an extra $60 dollars a night I could have stayed somewhere with a few more creature conforts.
First off what an amazing old building, super cool and friendly staff, and amazingly comfortable bed!! Personally didn't care for no private barhroom and no TV in the room was different. The shared kitchen was pretty cool. The NOISE was the least favorite, I know they supply ear plugs, BUT i guess they didn't work that great for us, I now know all sorts of thing of peoples lives I didn't need to know...LOL!
The hotel was so clean! We were a bit hesitant about sharing a bathroom and shower, but it was so pristinely clean, our hesitations were immediately gone. Loved the experience!

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
It was great, the first night we were kept up and we thought it was our neighbors. On night two we discovered it was the window shade hitting the window over and over. You get a mini fan in the room so you want the windows open to cool off. Window around the lobby and front door stayed open for the same reasons. Other than that it was a pleasant stay.
