Awesome Stay.

Awesome stay. Front desk helped with making a reservation for dinner. This was great as well as information on getting bus limousines by OCAT next door. The underground Namba walk was a cool experience. Next door downstairs had a supermarket that provided groceries at a good price. I highly recommend staying here. Very convenient to train stations and easy walk to shopping areas close by.

Disappointing stay

The hotel itself is old and the room was a bit smelly. The furniture was too old and the bed and pillow linings were a bit antiqued. During the morning time at around 10am, stepping out of the room was astonishing as everything was scary due to clean-up ladies throwing towels everywhere on the floor along the corridor. There were a number of trolleys and carts pulled over everywhere. Maybe it is the style of Japanese cleaning style. The check-in service was very smooth with the help of ladies who could speak English. But the men were a bit too ruthless. I asked about the delivery of luggage to the airport. He gave me the tags directly, asking me to leave the luggage in the lobby for pick up later. Luckily, one female staff took me to the information desk, explaining everything clearly to me, making phone calls and dealing with the issue. She was so patient to me even though I had created much inconvenience to her.

Hotel Monterey Grasmere Osaka completely exceeded my expectations. Not only is it located just a short walk from Dotonbori — the heart of Osaka’s vibrant nightlife and food scene — but it also offers true luxury at an incredibly affordable price. From the moment I arrived, the service was impeccable. The staff are wonderfully friendly and speak excellent English, making everything smooth and comfortable for international travelers. A special shout-out to the front desk: when I needed a taxi last-minute, they not only arranged it immediately but even walked me down personally and made sure the driver knew exactly where I was headed. That level of care is rare and truly appreciated. The rooms are spacious and spotless, with large bathrooms that feel like something out of a high-end spa. Everything is immaculately maintained — you can tell they take real pride in the facility. And the view? Absolutely breathtaking. Waking up to the Osaka city skyline was the cherry on top of an already fantastic stay. If you’re looking for a mix of luxury, convenience, and heartfelt hospitality without breaking the bank, Hotel Monterey Grasmere is the place to be. I’ll absolutely be staying here again next time I’m in Osaka!

Excellent location. Hotel was right smack between various Namba train stations and beside OCAT. The hotel has a very European vibe and the queen bedroom was relatively large by Japanese standards. It has all the required amenities. We loved the welcome drink at the hotel lobby. One hot and 1 cold. The dashi soup was a life saver after walking in the cold. My room had the city view and I could see the Don Quijote ferris wheel. My only gripes had to do with the mattress and pillows. But I realise this is consistent across all the hotels I stayed for this trip. The mattresses tend to be on the firmer side and the pillows on the limp and thin side. Stacking 2 pillows was a little too high but 1 would be too low. So the sleep was never going to be as good as those in a 5 star hotel.

Beautiful hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and nice, rooms were a good size and location was excellent. Only minor complaint is that from the metro level, you need to go up a few elevators to go to your room, just a minor inconvenience.

Great location, directly above Namba walk which has loads of shopping areas and restaurants. Hotel also has its own restaurants on the lobby floor including a Kobe teppanyaki restaurant by reservation that was amazing. Very friendly staff and clean rooms that have individual climate control. The view from our room was amazing, at night especially. Will definitely stay here again in the future.
