Really rated the location however our room was a little noisy… we did have a large room facing the street. Properly itself was lovely, big rooms, huge bathroom., great view and spaces to sit. Dining and access to was great! Staff could be a little friendlier and especially on check in. Cleaning staff missed towels a couple of times etc but appreciate everyone is trying! It’s summer!

Beds were comfortable. They have the best breakfast! The breads were fresh and you slice them yourself. Fresh fruits and vegetables.

All of the staff are top-notch. I came in for Syttende Mai, with suitcase missing. Until 1800 Sunday evening…the whole trip. I was frazzled, but the staff gave me tips on where to buy a new suit, to my fashion misshap with my Norwegian Ribbon that Anders helped me with. Many thanks to ALL Tusen takk. A Mixed Bag

Upon registration we were told we would be in the “back of the house”. It sounded vaguely like the last row in the theater which did not sound inviting. Once we found the room it was clean and quiet which we appreciated. The water glasses were not replaced nor were the old coffee cups removed and there was no phone to call the front desk. The location is great. Close to the train station and walkable to many of the venues one would want to see. An easy hop from the airport as the tram station is nearby. Breakfast was outstanding so it was curious to us as to why the reception and housekeeping services were lacking.

I wanted to share our positive experience from our recent stay at the Karl Johan Hotel. The central location was fantastic, and we were very impressed with the modern and clean rooms. We also thoroughly enjoyed the daily breakfast buffet, which was excellent. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and will definitely choose to stay here again in the future.

This hotel is beautiful and clean and situated right at the beginning of the royal gardens, which of course is covered with beautiful flowers. I very much enjoyed sitting on their little 2nd floor balcony to have a glass of wine and people watch. Hotel staff was SO friendly and never seemed bothered by my many tourist-y questions. That’s hard to pull off when you deal with tourists every day!! Last but not least, their breakfast was to die for! Seriously, I took so many pics of it and it had its own social media post bc it was THAT good. Highly recommend.

Good location and breakfast

Good location and access to transport links. Very good breakfast with lots of choice. The reception staff were not as friendly or helpful as would expect, e.g. they did not tell us the best way to our room. We had to carry two cases up stairs as a consequence.
