I would give this stay 6-7/10. First, Sonder has an online system for checking in. However, they will not allow early check in even if the room is ready early on the day of your stay, unless you pay extra. Second, our room smelled like cigarette smoke. We tried to ask a staff member to see if they could re-clean, but the cleaning staff do not speak English (in Ottawa). We were also told the hotel was fully booked for that night, and that smoke is quite common as it is an old building. I woke up with a severely irritated throat from the smoke. I will however give credit to one of the very friendly staff who arranged for another room for our second and third nights, which was excellent and smelled very clean. Aside from smoke, the property is very well maintained and rooms/apartments are very spacious, and feel quite homey.

The room was good overall, but we had a balcony facing the street. It meant it was very loud. They did leave earplugs for us but it did little to drown the noise through the cheap windows and poorly sealed balcony door.

The room we had was designed poorly. The kicthenette was 1/2 the size it should have been. it hsould have been l shaped in the corner. The bathroom was also layed out badly. The light switch was on the wrong side off the door , the shower oriented 180 degrees wrong and the towel bar was on the wrong side. the fixures and furniture were fine but the unit was designed wrong. Every time I attempted to turn on the bathroom light I was reaching in the wrong spot for it

Super convenient location; felt safe and secure; clean, modern, spacious studio- everything we needed was supplied and in very good condition. Our place had a kitchen that was well equipped, with boutique grocery next door. Luggage storage for the day of check out was a bonus. We’d stay here again in future. Price was excellent for what was the perfect location and place for the two of us.
