The hotel has a beautiful lobby area and gives the vibe of a historic building. The hotel sits across from the Examinations College of Oxford University. The hotel is right off High Street and its an easy walk to the university, shopping and restaurants.
Easy access, clean rooms, lovely spot for a brief holiday.

A comfortable stay without any issues. For the price, it was fine though do note that things are a little dated and like most old Oxford buildings, the floorboards can be a bit noisey but overall, it was pleasant and clean.
Couldn’t control temperature in room despite using aircon on wall. Far too hot at 3am. Very poor lighting in room. Staff very nice and efficient. Decoration feels ready for a refurb.
Big room, fast check-in and plenty of pillows for a comfortable sleep.

Everything seemed to be in miniature. Room was tiny, was a challenge to get in and out of the shower. Breakfast plates also small. Alleyway to car park tiny and very few spaces. Very expensive compared against other Mercure hotels.

Don't stay here unless you really need to. The room wasn't cleaned properly and the performance of the staff was shoddy. We gave up waiting for breakfast after about 30 minutes and went elsewhere.
The hotel room was ok, the bed comfortable. The staff on reception were welcoming and performed well. But the dining room was chaotic. We ordered coffee and peppermint tea - apparently the hotel had no decaf coffee in either the rooms or the dining room. It took 15 mins plus a couple of reminders before it arrived at our table. We ordered breakfast and after 50 minutes waiting we walked out and told the staff to cancel it we could not wait an hour for breakfast. Other tables were repeatedly brought the wrong food and plates were going back and fore to the kitchen. We felt sorry for the young staff who were overwhelmed and there was clearly a management failure to render the breakfast session so poor and chaotic.
The location was excellent and central near the colleges and High Street and Botanical Gardens.
Unfortunately the room we stayed in, overlooking Merton Lane was noisy with a constant loud electrical noise which persisted all night preventing any sleep.

The Staff on reception were clearly new and not experienced or trained - resulting in a very slow process and my payment being taken twice. Which was resolved and I was refunded.
My room was very small - and the shower was almost too small to get washed in!!!
