This inn is beautifully restored! The furnishings and details are amazing! Breakfast was delicious and the cookies, wine, and charcuterie in the evening were a nice added touch. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms were clean. Staff was warm, friendly, and welcoming. Parking lot is a added plus.

It was very charming! The breakfast and wine and cheese selection added such wonderful touches. Everything was very comfortable and delicious. They easily accommodated our late check in and the staff was very welcoming and friendly. We also loved the location! Highly recommend!

We both loved the new look inn. We stayed in the old pacific grove inn but this version is so much better. Beautiful rooms, clean with wine and a great breakfast. The staff helps the reasons for loving the inn. Friendly, informative. We will for sure come back.

Nice place to stay.

We enjoyed our stay at the Charles. Our room was fairly comfortable. Would have preferred a different bathroom set up. (the sink was outside the bathroom and jammed into a nook near the door). The shower head was very low for my husband but fine for me. The snacks and wine in the afternoon were a very nice touch, along with the freshly baked cookies in the evening. The continental breakfast was fine, would have been nice to mix up the offerings a bit. Overall it was a nice place to stay, good location. An easy walk to our favorite restaurant La Mia Cucina. ( and many other restaurants in addition to the waterfront). We love Pacific Grove.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious--breakfast, charcuterie & wine in the afternoon, and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and sherry available from 7PM on each evening. We arrived at 6:45, just as the chocolate chip cookies were baking, and the house smelled so welcoming. We're already looking forward to our next trip!

It was the cutest bed and breakfast near the beach to come with family. We enjoyed our stay, and appreciated the lovely innkeeper who assisted us during our stay! Very friendly and accommodating! The breakfast was delicious, and it was in a nice area only 10 minutes walking to the beach. Room was very spacious as well.

Wow! From the moment of walking into the door and saying hello to two mornings later in checking out -- fantastic!! They really take care in making you feel treasured here. The in is clean, comfortable, and the innkeepers truly go the extra mile. The evening wine and snacks, the breakfast, the friendliness was a true reminder that staying in a hotel doesn't need to be plug and play. My room was comfy and so was the bed! I appreciated the closeness to the downtown street and just a couple blocks away from restaurants. If you're interested in Lover's Point, an easy walk to the water as well. Thanks for an incredible stay!! I'll be back.

Family rooms - i.e. the rooms with 1 queen and 2 twins or 1 king and 2 twins are located in the basement. The basement really is the basement. Windows only opened up to the sidewalk. Basement rooms had a musty and humid odor - unpleasant. Additionally, Room 101, the windows opened toward the street that was perhaps 10 feet away at ground level. Window frame around the windows were warped and looks water damaged, leaving separation cracks in the window frame that allowed daylight in and extremely loud traffic noise. People that were talking on the sidewalk sounded like they were in the room with you. The home is very uniquely decorated and the inn keeper was very friendly and inviting. However, at least for the basement rooms (which is both of the family rooms), the property definitely was showing it's age. The bathroom was extremely cramped, with brown tiles from the 70's everywhere and the shower head had a lot of brown hard water stains. It's possible the ground floor and above rooms were nicer, but the basement rooms, I would not recommend.
