Wow, my husband and I came here for a weekend getaway and absolutely loved it!! The B&B is so beautiful and the view is absolutely stunning. It was a peaceful! The staff were amazing and we met some great people! We stayed in the Annex Delux. We will definitely come again! I will clear up what questions I had before as it’s kind of hard to tell in the picture. The loft does not have a door and leads to downstairs where there are more rooms where other guest say and beautiful living room and kitchen area. It’s still very private, it just does not have a door to the upstairs. We were lucky and got some amazing people who were in the annex with us. Breakfast was amazing and the Evenly was so helpful! 10/10 would come again!

Elk Trace is an absolutely lovely place! The common areas are very comfortable, the breakfast is huge and delicious, the environment is magnificent and Evelyn and her crew are personable and welcoming. We only stayed one night but so wish we had had time to stay longer!

Very nice property. Hosts are welcoming, and rooms are amazing - each one is unique. Didn't have time to explore the property. Breakfast had many homemade items. A bit out of the way, which can be both good and bad, but not too difficult to find. Gave a great dinner recommendation for the Coyote Cafe, and quickly texted us that we left a charger cord behind.

Great hot breakfast with breakfast casserole etc. staff helped me with EV charging in town. Common area was very nice with a full kitchen in the annex where I stayed. Able to refreeze my cooler ice which was a bonus. Super nice staff, very clean, nice finishes in room. Out in the woods saw raccoon on the road on the way in would definitely recommend

Wow! What can I say, but wow! This is an amazing jewel! I can't wait to take my husband and boys back for snowboarding at Wolf Creek and stay here! Evelyn and Carolyn make you feel like family. The property is beautiful and relaxing. A definite must if you plan a trip to Pagosa Springs!

For some reason when I booked this place, I was not able to tell how far out of town it was. It was just a little bit of a surprise, and I was also surprised that the loft meant we were sharing with another couple who was downstairs so as long as that is all made clear, you know what you’re getting. And it was an absolutely wonderful stay. There is a restaurant fairly close by that is off the charts and the family feel of the place is wonderful. If you want to do your own cooking, there is a fantastic kitchen and everything was really spacious and the people are just perfect. If I’m ever in the area again, I would definitely return

Pagosa Getaway

A friend and I just wanted a getaway and we discovered this gem of a place. The ladies are extremely friendly and welcoming. The place is very clean and nestled away from the main city of Pagosa. But it’s just a short drive into town. Breakfast was amazing.

Elk Trace Bed and Breakfast was an incredible experience. The "big" house was incredible. Like a combination of a cabin / manor house. Beautiful on the outside and inside, nestled on 102 acres of pristine Colorado (San Juan Forrest) wilderness yet still fairly close to civilization in Pagosa Springs. The room was perfectly sized with a king bed. The place is dog friendly. The owner, Evelyn, even volunteered to watch one of our yappy dogs while we went on a carriage ride around the property (Buckarroos Carriage/Sleigh rides - awesome). Also I need to mention it was very affordable. Overall an incredible experience and I've told many people about Elk Trace Lodge since we've been back.

I really enjoyed my stay at Elktrace B&B. My hosts were great, and the scenery was amazing. I used Elktrace as a base for some day trips, The location worked out very well. Whether your goal is to actively enjoy the outdoor activities in the area, or to just relax and decompress this facility is ideal. The next time I’m in the area I will definitely consider Elktrace.

We were initially disappointed when we arrived at our accomodations because Expedia had show us pictures of a cabin with a full kitchen. It turns out we only had a mini-fridge and microwave with no cooking facilities. Either Expedia or the owners should get this fixed. However, we were given access to the main kitchen in the lodge for cooking and we were otherwise comfortable. The property is beautiful, with lots of hummingbirds visiting as you breakfast on the big deck. We took and evening sunset stroll down the road and due to all the road construction in downtown Pagosa, we were very glad to be out in the country!

Get a taste of ranch life

Stay in the Annex building which offers unbeatable views for your morning coffee- mountains and horses grazing in the field. The horse wagon ride that's offered on site was fun for kids but rather pricey and the dinner that comes with it was horrible.
