Terrible musty smell in the room. Bought our own air freshner, which didn’t help. Open sliding doors to try and air room, made no difference. Smoke to staff the next day, only thing they could do was give us a can of air freshner. Staff did come and look and send it was probably the vents. Sprayed air freshner, made a little difference. Room was right next to the Laundry, which was very noisy. Only enjoyable part was leaving for the day and on return sitting on the balcony looking at the view, also to avoid as much of the smell as possible. Could not wait for check out day

Good position, rooms are basic but clean and tidy. No lift for 2nd floor unfortunately, but not much they could do about that. Wifi was pretty much useless, couldnt do anything whilst connected. Eventually turned wifi off and used mobile data

The hotel is in the perfect position just down from the wharf. It has plenty of parking. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are a little old but absolutely clean, the beds are plush with plenty of pillows and doonas. The bathroom is well equipped and clean with a shower only. There was a bit of noise in the hallways at night so sound does carry, but not the hotel's fault. Would def recommend this hotel to others and stay here again if I was visiting the Bay of Islands.
