You would expect that a Mountain Lodge with a huge stone fireplace plenty of firewood stacked on the mantle would have a fire going. But even when I asked about getting a fire started it never happened very disappointing

Our room was adequate, clean and reasonably comfortable. The bathroom was very small and there was some water pipe noise that came on at random day or night. The location of the property is good; the surroundings are walkable. The staff were friendly including the restaurant.

Poor communication before stay
Only discovered the night before our stay that the restaurant and bar would be closed, despite having had emails from them beforehand. Arrived in the dark(our fault) and did not relish driving anywhere to eat after a long day, so we had brought in some food. Some advice about the closure would have been appreciated. Check in left a lot to be desired. Kept waiting an awful long time and did not feel at all welcoming. The room itself was really lovely, so I’m sure if we had arrived on a different day our feelings would not be the same
